The Position: Process Safety Engineer - 

Responsible for the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program, including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC).  Support the EB/Styrene Unit Engineers and Process Engineers on specific projects as required.

Accountable for the Asset Engineer roles for PHA, MOC, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), PSM audits, and Facility Siting reviews and documentation.

What you will do:  

•    Develop Site Process Safety Management Program Procedures as required.
•    Ensure Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review processes are followed, executed in a timely fashion.
•    Conduct audits of MOC system effectiveness periodically and develop continuous improvement.
•    Provide mentorship and advise colleagues on criteria for MOC initiation.
•    Support facilitation of PHA for MOC’s.
•    Manage and lead facilitation of PHA revalidation process.
•    Manage and lead facilitation of LOPA revalidation process using existing software.
•    Document LOPA findings and PHA recommendations.
•    Lead Process Safety incident investigations.
•    Guide and mentor departments to ensure Process Safety is maintained.
 

What you will bring: 

•    BS in Chemical Engineering and related work experience
•    Professional Engineering designation with Province of Ontario
•    F.S. ENG (TÜV RHEINLAND) for Process Hazards & Risk Analysis (PH&RA) certification is an asset.
•    8 to 10 years of relevant experience in a process industry
•    Working knowledge of PSM, PHA & MOC
•    Experience with Site Facility Siting Studies
•    Strong technical writing skills are required 
•    Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects and make data driven decisions
•    Effective communication, leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills
•    Able to build effective relationships with ALL departments

Physical demands: 

Must be able to perform field work in a plant environment including climbing of stairs, ladders, lifting.  

Must be able to perform typical office environment activities including sitting for long periods of time.
