Process Engineer / Junior Process Engineer

Based: Newton Aycliffe, County Durham

Recent Chemical Engineering graduates with industry experience, capable of supporting rather than leading projects will also be considered

The role: The Process Engineer role is pivotal to the success of existing and new product lines with key interfaces inside and outside of the Operations function, including the Site Leadership Team, NPD, R&D, Quality and much more. The succesful postholder will be a sole contributor with responsibility for the delivery of plant improvements, product development activities and the provision of key technical expertise, problem solving & solution implementation across the site.

Accountabilities:

Safety First:

  • Participate in SHE reviews (e.g. Process Safety Review or Management of Change).
  • Drive alarm management process and provide support for continuing success.
  • Report and lead investigations onsite with appropriate conclusions and sustainable actions.
  • Maintain knowledge of INEOS safety rules and ensure all personnel follow them.
  • Assure workplace practices are in conformity with established INEOS guidelines and principles

Day to day Operations:

  • Resolve day-to-day technical issues involved in operating the plant and communicate these solutions to others for execution.
  • Write and/or review operating procedures and provide appropriate training.
  • Facilitate and own key production and quality technical issues, identifying and owning solutions and improvement opportunities.
  • Determine optimum operating conditions for the plant to achieve a safe operation, which meets the production plan and produces a quality product at minimum cost.
  • Designing and testing process upgrades and new process systems.
  • Performing process simulations and troubleshooting issues.
  • Lead projects for optimisation or modification to existing plant alongside the NPD Project Management team.

Education & Experience:

  • Degree qualified Chemical Engineer or Process Engineer with relevant industry experience
  • Experience of fast paced manufacturing operations is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to analyse complex technical issues to the fundamental level and propose practical solutions. As well as experience in driving continuous improvement and working within process industries.
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing improvement strategies and approaches (e.g. OEE, Six Sigma, Lean, MTBF etc.). A strong communicator and influencer, skilled at mobilising and inspiring technical contributors without direct line management authority, at all levels in a manufacturing organisation.
  • Well-developed IT skills (including Excel, SAP etc.) including the ability to create tools within the packages.
