FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth

job purpose

  • Determine fitness for service of INEOS FPS pressure systems equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Law and the INEOS FPS inspection procedures and practices, particularly the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000.
  • Support key compliance activities within IM Pressure Systems and Assurance teams

principle accountabilities

  • Develop, implement and manage pressure systems integrity programmes to achieve legal compliance and meet site standards and business goals for asset integrity, reliability, effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Accountable for the approval of all Written Schemes of Examination and Inspection reports for the areas of responsibility to confirm that they meet legislative requirements and site inspection and integrity standards.
  • Implement Written Schemes of Examination, assess equipment condition and suitability for further service and report the outcome to business area to comply with legal requirements and business goals.
  • Recommend repairs and advise Plant Manager on the restoration of “fit for purpose” condition, accept repairs and assign inspection intervals to achieve legal compliance and business goals.
  • Provide guidance on the practical application of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000, to inspection engineers, plant managers and asset engineers.
  • Own and lead the implementation of a Risk Based Assessment programme for pressure systems equipment, ensuring compliant transition from existing grade based system, where relevant.
  • Maintain the impartiality and independence of the inspection body from the operations teams to ensure conformance with the requirements of continued UKAS accreditation.
  • Provide pressure systems technical input in support of projects, plant modifications and TAR work to deliver legal compliance and business integrity requirements.
  • Monitor the use of Credo to ensure compliance with the Credo Inspection workflow process and a level of consistency in the type and quality of information being stored in the tool.
  • Coach developing members of the team in application of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000 and the INEOS FPS Inspection Quality System.

  • INEOS FPS consists of a number of top tier COMAH sites and an offshore platform, contained within which is a large range of process technologies and chemical hazards. The post holder is required to have a wide general knowledge and understanding of the integrity related aspects of these processes.
  • Utilise in-depth knowledge to aid in the selection of the most appropriate Non-Destructive Testing techniques on a case-by-case basis, as well as recognise opportunities for the implementation of new or emerging specialist NDT technologies.
  • Job Knowledge Skills: thorough knowledge of the law as it applies to design, manufacture, operation, maintenance, inspection and decommissioning of mechanical equipment, (PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, HSAWA, PED, DSEAR, PSR). In-depth knowledge of routine non-destructive inspection techniques, an appreciation of specialist NDT techniques and detailed understanding of materials and corrosion mechanisms. Detailed knowledge of relevant industry design, fabrication and fitness for service codes and standards.

qualifications and technical experience

  • Desired Qualifications: University degree or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Minimum Experience: 5 to 10 years mechanical engineering / inspection NDT experience across a variety of equipment types including pipelines, pipework and vessels, fabrication, design, maintenance, commissioning and plant operations on high hazard upstream, refining or petrochemicals sites.
  • Job-Specific Skills: demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills and capability to manage a small team of inspection specialists & projects
