Plant Inspector

Purpose/role of the job

The Plant Inspector act as Inspector owner at PT. INEOS Aromatics Indonesia in Maintenance department, directly report to Senior Inspection Engineer. The Plant Inspector is a part of the Reliability & Inspection team which their responsible for do inspection activity such as: Visual inspection, Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT). To gather inspection data that required for all the required piping system, and fixed equipment inspection activities for the Business Unit (BU). The Inspection Team Consist of one inspection Superintendent, one inspection engineer, and one Plant Inspector in Mechanical Maintenance. Corrosion, Materials, are responsible of Reliability & Inspection Superintendent under supervision of Global Senior Material Engineer.

 

The Plant Inspector will be assigned as QA/QC Inspector of PT. INEOS Aromatics Indonesia Business Unit and perform physical inspection on fixed equipment and piping system. These inspections cover all pressure retaining equipment to establish its condition and fitness for service based on INEOS recommended practices and industry required codes and standards, also district jurisdiction. The Plant Inspector also plays an integral role in assuring compliance by the Business Unit to all pressure vessel and piping codes, as well as continued mechanical integrity, reliability, and availability of fixed equipment for PT. INEOS Aromatics Indonesia.

 

 

Responsibilities/Accountabilities of the job

  • Performs Physical Inspection for new, in-service and repair inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, heaters, atmospheric storage tanks and piping in accordance with the Rules of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Division (BPVC), American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Code and American Petroleum Institute (API) Standards as well as corporate/site procedures (IGGN), standards and specifications.
  • Performs Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) as necessary to ensure code requirements are met on new, Inservice or even after repair equipment.
  • Communicates the results of inspections to Inspection Engineer & Inspection Superintendent and appropriate Maintenance job notes and/or work orders.
  • Analyzes and documented inspection results using the site’s inspection data management system, and maintains the unit inspection schedule, inspection plan as well as supporting drawings, files, and calculations.
  • Keep the Inspection program actual date and information up to date that gathered from inspection results in Inspection databased and proposed direct recommendation to inspection Engineer.
  • Provides technical support to the Maintenance and Technical Department on code requirements for repairs and inspection of piping and pressure vessels.
  • Participates in TAR planning, TAR worklist development and executes TAR inspections.
  • Participate in inspection department especially for Damage Mechanism Review.

 

Required profile

  • Min High School Technology
  • At Least have 10 years’ Experience as Plant Inspector or NDE Inspector of relevant working experience in PTA Plant, Petrochemical, or in the similar industry.
  • Proficient knowledge in the basic NDE techniques (VT, UT, MT, PT).
  • Having Knowledge how to conduct inspection at piping system and Mechanical Static Equipment based on inspection plan. And included strategy to acquired inspection data from piping system and mechanical static equipment.
  • A Sound Knowledge and skills on inspection tools & operating especially UT Phased array, Helium testing, Soundwave Inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of material selection, Non-Destructive Examination Techniques, welding, and risk-based inspection procedure would be an advantage.
  • Well experienced in working with various departments and contractors.
  • Proficient level skills using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

Certification

  • Welding Inspector Certificate from reputable training school (CSWIP 3.0 Welding Inspector and Above more preferred).
  • Level II certifications in Visual Testing (VT), Ultrasonic Testing-Thickness Monitoring) (UT), Penetrant Testing (PT) and/or Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Radiography Interpreter (RI).
  • Inspector Certificate (At least Local) such as: Piping Inspector, Pressure Vessel Inspector.

 

Physical demands

  • The willingness and ability to work in a confined space and enter a standard 18" manway, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The willingness and ability to work with a respirator and climb scaffold ladders, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The willingness and ability to work nights, weekends and 12-hour shifts as scheduled.
