Organizational context and Job purpose

The INEOS Chocolate Bayou Site has a position open for a Maintenance Planner to become a member of the Central Planning Team.   This position is accountable for planning of maintenance work ensuring that all work activities are planned proactively, in a safe and environmentally sound manner, assuring compliance with established codes and procedures.   

How the Role Fits In:

This position is accountable for the planning of maintenance work, ensuring the planning of work activities proactively, in a safe and environmentally sound manner, assuring compliance with established codes and procedures. 

The Planner identifies cost-effective means of completing necessary work, during the development of the specific job plans for the area.  This includes the development of planned work execution packages for maintenance repairs and improvement projects.  And to assist area core team in developing a weekly maintenance schedule based on resource availability and on time procurement of required materials.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Accountability 1:  SHE Stewardship

  • The position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles.  Additionally, this position has a special responsibility to cascade the understanding of these principles throughout the craft teams that execute maintenance activities in the field.
  • Remains in compliance with CBW SHE policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that job plans comply with and reflect all requirements established in CBW SHE policies and procedures.
  • Promotes and demonstrates safe behaviors through personal participation in SHE activities including incident investigations, HAZOP's, audits, observations, housekeeping and in reviewing other group’s safety incidents and near misses.
  • Ensure SHE delivery, compliance and self-verification processes for departmental maintenance activities.

Accountability 2:  Planning

  • Develop job plans that are logically sequenced for safe and efficient work execution.  Key plan elements include:
    • required skill crafts and duration
    • required tools and equipment
    • optimal scheduling logic between operations
    • requisition for necessary parts and materials
    • task lists for repetitive jobs
    • accurate Bills of Material (BOM's) where appropriate
    • special instructions and required documentation such as QA/QC needs, piping schematics, safety such as hazard identification and mitigation as well as environment compliance directives as applying to the specific work activities
  • Create reusable job plans in SAP and demonstrate ownership of all SAP data associated with reusable job plans (Bills of Material (BOMs), accurate hours associated with each task, etc.) by ensuring reusable job plans are updated with current data obtained during the execution of the work in the field.
  • Audit PM and PPM maintenance orders for correct entry data and cost settlement information.
  • Solicit feedback on executed jobs plans and make any necessary changes to ensure that planning and work efficiency continues to improve.
  • Ensure continuous improvement as part of the job preparation and planning processes through inquiry for quality feedback on work execution.
  • Serve as a technical resource to unit operating and mechanical personnel using SAP and other software as required.
  • Create requisitions for the procurement of materials
  • Coordinate activities on purchases and deliveries through the Procurement Department.
  • Audit repairable and non-stock parts to insure availability and adjust inventory as required.
  • Work in tandem with the responsible area Maintenance Coordinator, Team Leaders, and Scheduler to ensure priority jobs are loaded into 1 through 4 week out maintenance schedules.
  • Interacts effectively with personnel in other groups as well as other planners and outside vendors.
  • Plan work for unit section outages and work with scheduling team to schedule per outage readiness playbook. 
  • Plan work scope from findings identified by Inspection including CUI and other failure mechanisms.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Minimum five (5) years of chemical, refining, or manufacturing industry, with at least two (2) years in an operational, maintenance craft or maintenance planning role.
  • SAP skills in the Plant Maintenance Module is a requirement. 
    • This includes, but not limited to, running list edit reports.
    • Creating and changing maintenance items and task lists, creating and changing notifications, orders, and creating requisitions.

Skills/Competencies

  • Have a strong operational, mechanical and/or planning background; knowledge of rotating equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety, maintenance, and operations management systems
  • Be able to read and understand all technical drawings and documentation associated with production equipment, vessels and tankage.
  • Be able to communicate effectively both orally and written with all levels of the organization
  • Work and interact effectively as a team member.
  • Focuses efforts and prioritizes work to deliver business value.
  • Providing constructive feedback to peers
  • Have a strong mechanical background in an industrial environment
  • Effectively organizes work while balancing competing priorities.
  • Preferred candidate will have used SAP in the performance of maintenance planning
  • Proficient in use of SAP, Excel, Outlook, and MS Word
