Payroll Specialist

Under general supervision, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll information, reviewing and performing payroll audits, and serving as a resource for questions surrounding pay policies and procedures for INEOS Pigments. Will also perform quality control and investigates anomalies, and respond to information requests from internal and external sources. The Payroll Specialist serves as a back-up for processing payroll for designated payroll areas, ensuring accurate posting of SAP FI/CO entries and third party payments and adhering to stipulated deadlines.


Key activities include:

  • Process all master data transactions in SAP
  • Run and check time evaluation adhering to stipulated deadlines. Resolves out of balance conditions between time and payroll journal results
  • Process payroll and performs all post-processing activities for all payroll areas.
  • Ensure payroll processes and practices meet payroll regulatory requirements to be supported by internal/external audits
  • Communicates with third party vendors and generates reporting data as needed for wage garnishments and support orders
  • Serve as a backup to uploading payroll tax files to the ADP site and direct deposit files to the bank site
  • Process regular payroll information, entering bonus payments, tax withholding changes, stop payments, and off-cycle checks as requested while adhering to Payroll Policy and Practices.
  • Responds to and resolves inquiries regarding pay and leave questions from employees
  • Explain payroll calculations and deductions to employees, investigate payroll issues, and make appropriate corrections.
  • Assist in the explanation of leave accruals based on H.R. Policies
  • Respond to employee inquiries and resolve pay discrepancies
  • Work with third party representative in regards to any jurisdiction changes
  • Ability to manage Unemployment Account requests
  • Month, Quarter, Year End report process
  • All other duties as assigned

About You

You should possess:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2--4 years SAP payroll experience with employee populations greater than 500 including Unions
  • Strong understanding of relationships between payroll, Unions, benefits, HR events, Finance and other input and downstream systems
  • ADP experience
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws/regulations and accounting
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office applications)
  • Proficient in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheets
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple,concurrent deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality


Schedule/Hours

This is a salaried non-exempt position. Working hours are 7:00 AM-3:30 PM. Flexible schedule and/or additional hours as needed.
