PTA is a raw material used in the manufacture of polyesters used to make fibers, textiles, film, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. PX is a feedstock for PTA production. We also produce metaxylene, a feedstock for PX production.

PX/MX Product Manager

Role Synopsis:

The goal of this role is to maximize value from Texas City asset through developing, optimizing and managing mixed xylene (MiX), metaxylene (mX), and paraxylene (pX) production, supply, logistics and inventory plans.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for maximizing value from Texas City asset through developing, optimizing and managing mixed xylene (MiX), metaxylene (mX), and paraxylene (pX) production, supply, logistics and inventory plans.
  • Bring together sales, manufacturing, logistics to drive optimal business performance.
  • Provide lowest cost and reliable PX supply to Cooper River.
  • Support Aromatics Global Optimization team value creation through MiX and pX shipments.
  • Identify and lead improvements in risk management with mX, pX and MiX inventory.
  • Identify pX and MiX spot sales and purchases requirements and collaborate with Feedstock Procurement Manager to execute.
  • Create and maintain industry models for mX and pX.
  • Collaborate with Feedstock Procurement Manager to develop pX and MiX contract strategy.
  • Lead mX business performance and strategy development.
  • Manage mX customer interfaces and sales.
  • Identify and lead projects and initiatives that improve or optimize asset operations and create new business optionality.
  • Provide input to annual plan process, developing production and logistics plan, as well as maintaining pX/mX monthly P&L forecasting model together with Finance.
  • Oversee Marine Scheduler, responsible for all barge and vessel scheduling duties, including demurrage analysis and invoicing.
  • Manage and lead key operational meetings, including weekly xylene supply team meeting.
  • Collaborate with Marine Scheduler and Logistics Procurement Lead to develop and execute logistics strategy.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

Education / Experience:

  • 4-year degree in science, engineering or business (BS or equivalent, minimum)
  • 5+ years of manufacturing, technical, and/or commercial

Technical:

  • Some knowledge of the polyester value chain.
  • Commercial acumen
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Some sales, market analysis, supply chain preferred
