The Job: This role is responsible to safely operate all sections of the plant to produce styrene that meets the internal manufacturing specifications.
What you will do:
Operate within a team of operators to cover the Styrene/Ethylbenzene/Utilities Outside and Board sections and Tank Farm section.
Complete safe work permits for area including field JSA for each job. Ensure INEOS Styrolution safe work practices and policies are maintained.
Secure equipment for maintenance and return to service after maintenance is complete. Report any equipment problems for maintenance.
Monitor process to ensure the unit is performing within safe operating conditions
Make rounds, including safety checks, check condition of equipment, make line-ups, start and stop equipment as needed
Actively utilize and adhere to all operation procedures.
Catch samples and provide them to the Laboratory to be run.
Actively participate in unit drills and training.
Execute on-shift activities for the safe operation of the plant.
Write and/or update operating procedures and SOCs.
Maintain high standard of housekeeping for unit.
Successful complete and maintain all required training and testing for technician qualification.
Emergency Response Team member, as required.
Rotate through all inside and outside operating systems while fulfilling all requirements of the operations progression system.
What you will bring:
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED; AND ONE of the following:
Process Technology degree from an accredited Program;
At least 5 years’ experience as an Operator in a chemical plant, refinery or gas processing plant

Read and understand P&IDs and plots of operational data

Analyze and follow written instructions and assist in their development
Understand calculations when used
Physical demands:
Walk to any location in the plant over varying terrain including ditches, dikes and catwalks
Climb 75' stairs and 200' ladders and enter vessels at various heights through 24" manways
Wear, fit and use a respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus, earplugs, goggles, safety glasses, radio and any other safety equipment
Feel vibrations in pumps, vessels, motors, etc.
Utilize audio, visual, and olfactory senses to monitor proper operation of plant equipment
The Location: This opportunity is located at one of our Gulf Coast sites One is located in Texas City, TX, approximately 40 miles Southeast of Houston and 10 miles north of Galveston Island an the other is located in Pasadena, TX which is part of the Houston metropolitan area, about 30 miles from downtown. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.
