The Operations Manager leads the manufacturing operations teams to ensure safe, efficient and economical production of PTA. The incumbent establishes the vision and strategy for improving optimization and variable cost performance. The position requires a comprehensive technical background to direct the flow and control of operations and process engineering work. The position is responsible for the BU network interface (Manufacturing Excellence, etc.) and interface with the SHE and Maintenance & Engineering Departments. The position liaises with individuals outside of the Cooper River site to ensure that the plant is compliant with Safety &Operations Risk expectations.
B. Accountabilities of the job: describe the main results expected from the job
- Leads and develops site Safety and Operations Strategy - Responsible for overall site operation and process safety
- Manages long term operation and objectives of PTA Units and OSBL
- Manages TAR optimization and overall execution
- Provide Leadership and direction to Manufacturing Leaders to achieve unit and plant objectives
- Establish boundary conditions, targets, objectives and desired behaviors for the area teams
- Require adherence to unit and plant operating, safety and administrative procedures and practices
- SPA for site Safety and Operations Planning and Execution
- Ensure Unit Manufacturing Team objectives are in alignment with long term Plans and Strategy
- Conduct routine leadership safety and compliance audits to ensure S&O objectives are met
- Interface with key stakeholders to optimize plant operations and ensure consistent application of policies and procedures
- Ensure annual performance plans are developed and monitor performance against those plans
- Foster employee development through training and job assignments – ensure long term Succession Plan is in place
- Participate and lead in incident investigations
- Develops and manages the Site operating budget
C. Required profile:
Level of education & Experience in general
Degree required: BS Engineering or related technical field, preferably BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in Chemical or Oil & Gas Industry
- 7+ years’ experience managing cross functional teams
Technical skills
- Understands and champions systematic operations, procedures & practices
- Leads and develops site Safety and Operations Strategy
- In-depth knowledge of site operation and process safety
- Manages long term operation and objectives of PTA Units and OSBL
- Manages TAR optimization and overall execution
- Provide Leadership and direction to Manufacturing Leaders to achieve unit and plant objectives
