At our site in Gladbeck we operate the world's largest phenol plant (650 kt phenol per year) with approx. 280 employees due to the annual volume produced.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accountability 1: SHE Excellence / Loss control management (20 SHE principles)
- Supporting Zero Incident Policy
- Assure that SHE targets are met and continuously improved
Accountability 2: Budget
- Deliver budgeted production volumes and consumption rates with required quality
- Deliver budgeted fixed and VCC (budget, control, report and required action)
- Optimisation of fixed and VCC across European sites
- Improve variable cost continuously - ensure close cooperation of the technical experts and the operational team
Accountability 3: Manufacturing Excellence
- Drive volumes
- Improve outputs and manufacturing costs by creeping volumes and driving down costs
- Improve reliability and availability
Accountability 4: Personnel management
- Goal-oriented management and motivation of employees in production (total of approx. 106 employees, direct personnel responsibility for 3 employees)
- Further development of the Gladbeck production department in respect of manpower and fixed costs
- Ensuring proper in-company apprenticeship training for operators in production
Accountability 5: Long term strategy and production competitiveness Gladbeck’s production
- Implement plans to improve cost structure
- Explore all possible synergies in Phenol and INEOS
- Execute defined plans: plan, organise, coordinate and control
Accountability 6: Operations Manager – specific duties
- Maintain good contacts to other Phenol and INEOS operation managers
- Networking with other industry colleagues
- Develop and maintain crisis plans within the production for all disturbances like isolation of units in case of a fire, loss of energy or auxiliaries
- Supporting all Capex programmes
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Level of education and Experience in general
- Degree in Engineering or in Chemistry
- At least 10 years of experience in the chemical industry
- At least 5 years management experience
- Fluent German and English language skills to allow optimum communication with employees of our site and the other sites
- Knowledge of economical business fundamentals
Technical skills
- Broad technical knowledge and understanding in chemical processes, process control and safety
- Strong analytical problem solver, trouble shooter
- Strong conceptual and analytical capability
- Broad and deep understanding of management processes

- Strong leadership, technical and management skills
- Absolute integrity to maintain high SHE standards, open minded for continuous improvement, facilitator between technical disciplines, effective decision maker
