Mechanical Maintenance Execution Supervisor

The INEOS Nitriles Green Lake Plant is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Execution Supervisor.  The primary role is to lead the mechanical maintenance efforts of the plant to include execution of routine maintenance, asset care, small capital projects, and all scheduled site outages. The supervisor works closely with Engineering, Projects, Production, Contract Maintenance, and outside contractors to execute all mechanical scheduled activities.  The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor’s organization is responsible for execution of all maintenance activities to maintain a safe, efficient, reliable operation.  The maintenance execution role has primary responsibility for managing and reporting the maintenance budget.  The Supervisor’s organization is responsible for working closely with various service contractors for all types of mechanical work activities to include identifying potential contractors, performing field safety audits and following up on safety concerns.  This role takes a leadership position in optimizing the maintenance work process.  The Mechanical Maintenance Execution Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager and fills in for the role when the manager is not on site. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures maintenance activities are performed safely, without environmental impact, costs of repairs are justified, and equipment is repaired in a manner that ensures reliable operation.
  • Drives maintenance cost improvements in conjunction with the department management team.  Primary focus on budget performance, quality of work, and maintenance efficiency.
  • Specifies repair/replacement methods and materials per INEOS specifications, approves job plans and estimates.  Is accountable for specifications being met in assigned area.  Works closely with the Inspection department to clarify issues, questions, and any applicable deviations to specifications.
  • Communicates daily with Production personnel to adjust maintenance priorities and responds as necessary to urgent needs.  Initiates conversations to find the right balance between reacting to request for “rush” work vs. breaking into the pre-approved maintenance schedule.  This requires awareness of all scheduled maintenance work plant wide to determine impact of breaking the schedule.
  • Trouble shoots failed/underperforming equipment to eliminate root cause.  Technical expert in maintenance repair techniques.  Works with outside services to find innovative/new technology available in the maintenance field.
  • Participates in staff meetings and maintenance update/scheduling meetings.
  • Is responsible for Mechanical PM compliance by craft, Schedule Compliance, Backlog by Crafts.
  • Participates in incident investigations as needed.
  • Works with the Procurement department to procure and expedite materials and services as needed.
  • Acts as a field representative and point of contact for outside vendors working in the plant.  This includes performing field safety orientations, permit and MCC orientation and regular field visits while the work being performed.
  • Manages planned maintenance activities, asset care activities, and small capital project activities.
  • Acts as a mentor and a technical reference for Capital Project Engineers working on projects within the plant
  • Is responsible for supervision and management of the INEOS Millwright crew and Maintenance/Project Support Specialist.
  • Facilitates cross functional teams on large or time critical maintenance projects requiring multiple disciplines and or departments.  This to all site work as needed.  Coordinates plan of attack distributes responsibilities and creates timelines for safe execution.
  • Reviews, optimizes, and ensures the maintenance workflow process is followed.
  • Works closely with the production department to develop the plants yearly outage schedule and assists with corresponding budget line items.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in audits and interviews, including 20 Principals, OSHA, TNRCC, ISO 9002, etc.
  • Reports all incidents and completes incident report in Traction and complies with Global Safety Absolutes.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in engineering with 2 years petrochemical experience; or high school diploma and 8 years’ experience in the petrochemical industry

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Candidate must have working knowledge and understanding of the SAP Plant Maintenance Module.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with diverse groups in sometimes tense situations to gain consensus and a clear path forward.
  • Working knowledge of various mechanical repairs and techniques:  welding and piping fabrication and repair, heat exchanger repair, painting and insulation processes, scaffolding, vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to use INEOS specifications,
  • Candidate must possess working knowledge of Microsoft office products is preferred.
  • Previous experience with managing and understanding budgeting process is preferred.
  • Previous experience with managing contract work force preferred.
  • Previous experience in construction/maintenance a preferred.
  • Previous experience managing large construction\maintenance projects preferred.
  • Previous experience and strong familiarity Acrylo Unit operations preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to climb fixed ladder cages at heights of 30 ft. at a time. Total of 200 ft. (Employee may need ladders as means of egress during emergency).
  • Ability to climb 6 flights of stairs.
  • Ability to enter enclosed spaces through 18” man-way for cleaning and inspection purposes.
  • Ability to lift 50 lb.
  • Ability to wear required PPE: Hardhat, safety glasses, chemical goggles, face shield, rigid safety shoes/boots, full/half face cartridge masks.
  • Ability to work length of time outdoors/ inclement weather.
  • Job specific: Climbing, balance, bend/stoop, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying.
  • Need to evaluate understanding of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
