The Position: Mechanical Integrity Specialist  - The mechanical integrity specialist position exists to help maintain mechanical integrity and safe operation of operating unit process equipment, and to insure operating compliance with state and federal regulations.

Requirements: 

  • 8-10 years of experience with reliability and inspections in the chemical/oil & gas industry
  • Knowledge of ASME section VIII construction codes
  • Certification in API 510, API 570, API 576
  • AWS certified welding inspector
  • Knowledge of nondestructive examination (NDE) methods; certifications preferred
  • Basic metallurgy knowledge
  • Experience with developing and implementing repair plans for equipment deficiencies

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical expertise in the areas of Inspection, interpretation and application of codes and standards. Serves as a resource in the area of Inspection and assists in problem solving by using initiative, creativity and acquired job knowledge.
  • Directs and performs inspections. Interprets inspection data and prepares inspection findings and recommendations using sound technical judgment and knowledge of process equipment and applicable codes and standards. Guides maintenance in fabrication processes, codes, specifications and job note interpretations and quality assurance of equipment fabrication and repairs.
  • Maintains and assists in the development of the individual process unit(s) inspection program.  Responsible for ensuring the assigned unit(s) pressure retaining equipment is safe and reliable and that the Inspection Program is properly established and administered.
  • Reviews weld procedures and welder qualifications to assure they are correct and conform to applicable code requirements.
  • Accepts or rejects pressure vessel and piping fabrications and repairs using specified non-destructive examination techniques per the applicable codes and/or specifications.
  • Maintains and updates unit inspection records by using the Inspection database program and Excel and Access programs.

The Location: This opportunity involves supporting two plant locations. One is located in Pasadena, TX, and the other is in Texas City, TX. The sites are approximately 20 miles apart. Pasadena is part of the Houston metropolitan area, about 30 miles from downtown. Texas City is about 40 miles Southeast of Houston and 10 miles north of Galveston Island. Please note that relocation is not available for this position.
