FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth

job purpose

Reporting to the Kinneil Engineering Manager, the post holder will provide Measurement Engineering support to the Kinneil Asset.  They will lead the measurement discipline to deliver improved plant availability through the application of asset care, reliability engineering, technical support and the development / implementation of modifications.

principle accountabilities

  • The position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles.
  • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the asset measurement systems.
  • Develop and own the measurement long-term plan and budget
  • Act as Measurement single point of accountability (SPA) for Asset strategy.
  • Provide day-to-day troubleshooting support and ensure compliance with the necessary codes and standards for the discipline.
  • Lead any Regulator and Customer audits/visits related to the discipline.
  • Act as asset measurement focal point for any site projects,
  • Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, equipment strategy, defect elimination and equipment rationalisation.
  • Work closely with the asset and Hydrocarbon Accounting to ensure measurement accuracy and plant optimisation is maintained.
  • Responsible for monitoring maintenance findings/audit actions and assessing longer-term implications and impact on accuracy, availability and/or reliability.
  • Contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments and investigations as the measurement focal point. 
  • Act as custodian for all FPS asset maintenance strategies for measurement equipment (SME).
  • Lead and coordinate additional vendor support. 
  • Inert / Carrier Gas contract owner, monitor performance and costs.
  • Responsible for technical approval of Asset Metering Mismeasurement, Dispensation and Deviations
  • Act as asset measurement focal point for interface between asset and Ineos Laboratory.
  • Provide Measurement KPIs for business scorecard.

qualifications and technical experience

Minimum Qualifications

•           Degree in relevant Engineering discipline

•           5 years+ experience

•           Chartered Engineer,

•           Experience of Oil & Gas or Chemical Industries.

•           Displays strong technical skills and knowledge as required.

•           Fundamental knowledge of applicable standards

•           Knowledge of functional equipment design and repair

•           Formal training and/or experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)

Job-Specific Skills

•           Fiscal metering and analyser experience is desirable

•           Ability to effectively manage external relationships with regulators and other key stakeholders

•           Strong influencing and communication skills
