Material Compliance Specialist

Your Role: As a Material Compliance Specialist you will work in an OEM new product development environment that develops On Road and Off-Road Vehicles from concept to launch. One of the key deliverables of this position is to support the analysis and acceptance of the suppliers Material Data Sheet according to the current IMDS recommendations, communication with the suppliers in case of rejection/correction of MDS guaranteeing the compliance with the REACH and ELV regulations.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinating, analysing and if appropriate advising suppliers regarding IMDS platform
  • Provide support to the Material Compliance core team within INEOS Automotive and its partners
  • Provide guidance and information on REACH regulations and amendments to the business including Engineering, Quality and Commercial.
  • Work with vehicle program teams to provide regulatory guidance and where necessary address issues.
  • Requesting and checking supplier’s MDS according to the IMDS recommendations and current defined regulations
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal policies and processes related to the application, implementation, enforcement and audit of Recyclability, ELV standards and regulations.
  • Collect and manage the required data for the RRR quota calculation and ELV strategy
  • Guarantee all parts mounted in the vehicle are in accordance with the REACH, SVHC, RoHS and others materials compliance regulations applied in the Automotive Sector
  • Advise the Engineering team on current and future legislative matters
  • Report to Environmental Lead Engineer for material non-compliance issues
  • Work as an active member of the Engineering team, ensure effective communication between colleagues and positive contribute to meetings and briefing

For the Material Compliance Specialist we are looking for:

  • Successfully completed studies in Engineering, Chemistry Degree or similar.
  • 3 years experience in Material Compliance with OEM or first tier 1 supplier.
  • Extensive experience with material compliance and IMDS platform
  • Able to develop and maintain the respect and trust of government agencies
  • Research regulatory requirements and effectively negotiate as needed
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills
  • Must be a good communicator and able to build sustainable relationships internally and externally with multi-disciplinary teams i.e. Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Quality, Regulatory bodies.
  • Solid ability to move from analytical to strategy (bigger picture).
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10% of the time).
