The Position: Manufacturing Engineer - Provide immediate, short, and long-term technical support and leadership to the operations area in order to meet productivity and product quality requirements as well as to ensure operation of the units in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
Requirements:
Level of education & knowledge:
B.S. degree in Engineering (preferably in Chemical)
Experience in General:
2-5 years engineering experience at a chemical manufacturing plant preferred
Technical Skills:
Strong demonstrated technical and troubleshooting skills.
CAPEX project execution experience
Experience with Management of Change (MOC), PHA, LOPA is a plus
Additional experience with formal Root Cause Failure Analysis is desired but not required.
Competencies, Behavioral skills:
Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and communication skills necessary to interface with teams
Ability to work with low levels of supervision, both alone and on teams.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for development and maintenance of operating envelopes (OE), safety critical alarms (SCAs), and safety critical systems (SCSs), including identifying appropriate parameters, consequence of deviations, and corrective actions; setting the safe operating envelop limits; and investigating any exceedances.
Responsible for maintaining the OE, SCA, and SCS databases, documented and enforced within the DCS system. Utilize proper alarm management/rationalization techniques to further enhance operability of the DCS.
Lead/participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
Support/lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
Write and support the Management of Change process through PHA and PSSR Evaluation
Utilize technical background and troubleshooting techniques to improve process capability, unit and site reliability, and product quality
Track in process and final lot quality, lead troubleshooting and RCI efforts for out of spec material, interface with multiple groups including customers to resolve NCR’s and implement corrective actions in a timely fashion and initiate and lead quality and product improvement efforts.
Function as liaison with all service groups to ensure that work related to the production facilities is accomplished correctly, promptly, and in the most cost-effective manner
Accounting responsibilities can include: compiling and/or reviewing daily production reports, monthly production and raw materials reports, quality results, budget forecasting, and production schedule
Assist the team as required to ensure the safety of employees and operations, an environmental sound environment, high quality product and production volume. Influence behavior of all personnel in the area, include operators, logistics contractor, and peers to further improve safety and drive continuous improvement.
Assist in the coordination, planning, and execution of shutdown work including maintenance and capital activities
Participate in or conduct Process Hazard Analysis and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews to meet Process Safety Management requirements.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent viewing a computer monitor, stooping/crouching, balancing, climbing, twisting/turning, reaching above shoulder level, simple grasping/manipulation of both hands, exposure to dust/gas fumes, chemicals/solvents, temperature extremes, high noise levels and electrical sources.
Occasional lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, travel, pushing/pulling from a standing/seated position, kneeling, crawling, firm grasping of both hands, operating machinery, wearing occlusive clothing, exposure to allergic agents, enclosed spaces, wet conditions and reduced lighting.
Medical clearance needed to wear a respirator.
The Location: This opportunity is located in Channahon, Illinois, United States, only one hour from Chicago, Illinois.
