Organizational context and job purpose

INEOS Nitriles is a global chemicals business with sales volume of 1200 kte and revenue in excess of $2.4 billion.  The Nitriles business has 2 manufacturing operations in the US and 2 in Europe along with offices and headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland and Aurora, Illinois near Chicago. The Nitriles Business primary products include acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide, and acetonitrile.  Additionally, Nitriles also has a Plant that produces catalyst for internal use at the Lima Site, globally within Ineos, and for other Acrylonitrile producers.  The INEOS Nitriles Plant at Lima is part of an industrial campus which includes a refinery and chemical complex.  INEOS share services, utilities, products, and feedstocks with four adjacent manufacturing facilities:  Nutrien (ammonia, urea, nitric acid), Fort Amanda Specialties (chelates), Ashland (1,4-butanediol), and Husky Refining (propylene, fuels and refined oil products).

This position is responsible for reliability of process units.  Task is accomplished by scheduling, directing, and execution of maintenance work for the business.  Requires close networking with various personnel with-in the area to identify and implement improvement items.  Work may be performed by INEOS employees, nested contractor, and/or specialty contractor.  Must provide guidance and coach employees toward improved performance.  Position is charged with administration of labor contracts.  Participation in staff meetings, maintenance planning, shutdown planning, and failure analysis teams is required.

Primary charge is execution of maintenance in a timely and cost-effective manner in order to safely achieve maximum on stream time for operating units.  Knowledge of fixed and variable costs, as well as business conditions are required. Evaluation of equipment reliability shall be used to understand the unit reliability.  Position is responsible for continuous improvements of unit reliability through improved maintenance methods, equipment redesign/replacement projects, operating procedure changes, etc.   Determines manpower requirements when applicable.  Recommends need for spare parts inventory.  Orders necessary material and supplies to support the maintenance effort and drive continuous improvements.

All activities to be performed in compliance with established company, local, state, federal, health and safety regulations.  Requires familiarity of and compliance with various practices, codes and standards, EPA and OHSA regulations.

The Total Quality Management System shall be incorporated into all job activities.  All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Execution of maintenance in a timely and cost-effective manner in order to safely achieve maximum on-stream time for operating unit.
  • Knowledge of fixed and variable costs, as well as business conditions are required.
  • Responsible for continuous improvements of unit reliability through improved maintenance methods, equipment redesign/replacement projects, operating procedure changes, etc.
  • Requires close networking with various personnel within the area to identify and implement improvement items.
  • Provides guidance and coach employees toward improved performance.
  • Determines manpower requirements when applicable and administers labor contracts.
  • Participation in staff meetings, maintenance planning, shutdown planning, and failure analysis teams is required.
  • Must be skilled in teamwork, communication skills, have business economic knowledge and be familiar with Design and Code Standards.
  • Responsible for training and qualification of INEOS maintenance team.
  • Responsible for coordination of nested contractors.
  • Responsible for management and execution of incident investigations, audits, and procedure reviews related to maintenance activities.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalency. 
  • Minimum 10 years in manufacturing environment
  • 10 years’ experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of related industrial equipment required
  • 5 years of direct planning and scheduling experience and demonstrated proficiency in industry-wide and plant-specific safety, equipment repair, work processes planning, piping and instrumentation layout, and personnel management techniques and procedures required

Skills/Competencies

  • Knowledge of safety, maintenance, and operations management systems
