Organizational Context and Job Purpose

INEOS Nitriles is a global chemicals business with sales volume of 1200 kte and revenue in excess of $3 billion.  The Nitriles business has 2 manufacturing operations in the US and 1 in Europe along with offices and headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland and Aurora, Illinois near Chicago. The Nitriles Business primary products include acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide, and acetonitrile.  Additionally, Nitriles also has a manufacturing operation that produces catalyst for internal use at the Lima Site, globally within Ineos, and for other Acrylonitrile producers. The INEOS Nitriles Plant at Lima is part of an industrial campus which includes a refinery and chemical complex. INEOS share services, utilities, products, and feedstocks with four adjacent manufacturing facilities:  Nutrien (ammonia, urea, nitric acid), Fort Amanda Specialties (chelates), Ashland (1,4-butanediol), and Cenovus Refining (propylene, fuels, and refined oil products).

This position is a dual role responsible for (1) managing annual unit outages and 5-year turnarounds and (2) managing individual capital projects and Asset Care programs during non-turnaround periods.  The role also fills in for the maintenance supervisor during his/her absence.  This role will utilize the incumbent’s technical knowledge and experience to execute more efficient, cost-effective turnarounds and capital projects.  The incumbent will routinely utilize SAP and primavera to perform his job function. 

The Total Quality Management System shall be incorporated into all job activities.  All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Safety Health and Environmental Responsibilities

  • Ensure high safety standards are maintained on all projects and promote a positive proactive "Culture of Prevention."
  • Follow all safety rules, assure that all personnel are made aware of safe working practices, and promote safety programs in the office and in the field.
  • Ensure environmental compliance in all work plans.
  • Ensure that job plans are consistent with plant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure completion of near miss/accident reports as necessary
  • Complete annual safety training and conduct necessary SHE training as required.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Complete annual safety training and conduct necessary SHE training as required.
  • Manage the overall preparation, planning and execution of plant turnarounds.
  • Develop and manage the TAR budget.
  • Provide Executive reporting.
  • Liaise with senior management regarding status, progress and risk management.
  • Develop and build the TAR organization. Establish the organization and mobilize team resources to develop the execution strategy, including planning, scheduling, and procurement contracting strategy.
  • Develops comprehensive milestones required to meet the turnaround execution deliverables and maintain the turnaround schedule.
  • Develop specific management plans for SHE, quality and cost control.
  • Conducts scheduled meetings and monitors milestone achievement progress to assure the planning and preparation process remains on schedule.
  • Establishes a positive teamwork environment for effective preparation, planning and execution of the turnaround ensuring critical involvement of the broad cross section of the plant personnel and departments.
  • Provide leadership & direction to the TAR team and all contractors.
  • Utilizes “lesson’s learned” to implement past turnaround learning's and ensure turnaround success. Facilitate and lead future “TAR lessons learned.”
  • Plan and manage capital improvement projects in the unit during non-turnaround years
  • Includes cost and schedule accountability for assigned projects
  • Manage Asset Care program from budgeting, prioritization, and execution.
  • Provide engineering / technical guidance for maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion of maintenance plans

Skills & Knowledge Required

Level of education & Experience in general

  • B.S in Engineering/Technical with three years relevant experience in industrial environment.
  • SAP skills are a plus.  This includes, but not limited to, running list edit reports, creating and changing maintenance items and task lists, creating and changing notifications, orders, and creating requisitions.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Have a strong mechanical background in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of safety, maintenance, and operations management systems
  • Be able to read and understand technical drawings and documentation associated with production equipment, vessels and tankage.
  • Be able to communicate effectively both orally and written
  • Work and interact effectively as a team member.
  • Focuses efforts and prioritizes work to deliver business value.
  • Providing constructive feedback to peers
  • Effectively organizes work while balancing competing priorities.
  • Preferred candidate will have used SAP (or similar) in the performance of maintenance planning, requisitioning, and cost management.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Project).
