Having committed to significant investment over the next few years, we now require a Machinery Engineer with relevant experience to play a key role in the delivery and support of this growth in our business. This role is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to work within the Polymers area that has seen significant recent investment and includes a diverse array of equipment types.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all Rotating Equipment and ancillary systems on the Polymers Asset through development and delivery of an appropriate strategy, aligned to business objectives.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Define and implement asset care policy for all rotating mechanical equipment in the Polymers business, to ensure delivery of ongoing asset reliability, integrity and cost commitments.
  • Demonstrably support the INEOS 20 principles for Managing Behavioural and Process Safety.
  • Propose and audit asset care plans for all critical machinery to achieve reliability targets between TAR events and avoid unplanned breakdowns
  • Define the maintenance scope and frequency for major and minor overhauls of the critical machinery including identification of the correct resources to execute work to a high standard.
  • Define and recommend reliability improvements for the rotating equipment on the asset to increase reliability and reduce maintenance spend
  • Define the critical spares policy and associated annual budgets for the rotating equipment necessary to meet reliability targets within working capital objectives.
  • Support all rotating machinery upgrade projects aimed at improving the performance and reliability of the assets.
  • Provide input to remaining life determination and extension, obsolescence studies and asset life cycle strategies.
  • Achieve and maintain Technical Approver status for Rotating Machinery Plant Modification Procedures.
  • Lead trouble-shooting on critical equipment failures to establish root cause and define improvements to eliminate faults.
  • Support and propagate networks, both within INEOS and externally, to share knowledge and develop a library on rotating machinery improvements and best practices.
  • Define and continuously develop the long term (+10 year) Mechanical Strategy for Polymers to ensure clear sight of future budgets and workloads.
  • Specify TAR work scope requirements (in accordance with asset strategy) and assist in execution to support delivery of safe, on time and to budget TAR's.
  • Coach all relevant Polymers operations and support personnel to ensure sufficient competence to effectively execute their core roles and generate enhanced service delivery to the business.

Job Requirements

Accountable for major machinery overhauls and upgrades as required.

Contribute to the management of Capital Expenditure.

Commissioning and trouble-shooting of machinery systems.

Theoretical knowledge in operating environment covering major machinery types - centrifugal, axial and reciprocating compressors, gas turbines and pumps.

Carry out supplier performance management and be the key contract contact for applicable equipment.

Participate in risk assessment and asset management relating to the safe operation of equipment

Will have an established Machinery network external to site.

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

  • Chartered Mechanical engineer (or in the process of application).
  • Demonstrable experience in an asset care role or with an OEM supplier of rotating equipment.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of managing equipment reliability systems and processes in a production/manufacturing facility e.g. asset care.
  • Experienced on a petrochemical or refining manufacturing facility or new plant commissioning, TAR planning and execution and problem solving on large scale rotating equipment.
  • Strong understanding of discipline legislative and regulatory requirements and demonstrated ability to appropriately translate these requirements into equipment inspection/maintenance regimes.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to identify and pursue plant reliability issues to a satisfactory resolution.
  • Experience of following a Plant Modification process and associated documentation management systems.
