BUSINESS CONTEXT:

Ethylene oxide (EO) is an important building block for the preparation of a wide variety of EO derivatives (EODs), including various surfactants, as well as a host of other chemical intermediates including Glycol Ethers, Polyethlene Glycols, Ethanolamines, and Alkyl Alkanolamines. 

INEOS Oxide is one of the world’s leading producers of Ethylene Oxide (EO) and Ethylene Oxide Derivatives (EODs).  We currently have a total EO capacity of 920 kta spread across three different production units throughout Europe. These units have leading cost economics, due to economies of scale, state-of-the-art technology, strategic locations, etc. Our recently announced EO project in the US is targeting the fast growing merchant EO market, building on our experience and leadership position in Europe.

Purpose of the Job:

The individual will be responsible for effectively managing the supplier relationships, planning and costs for logistics for INEOS Oxide and Inovyn in North America.  Normal activities will include active management of the carrier base, management and investigation of freight invoice discrepancies, QM data base management for logistics-related Customer Complaints, focal point for all logistic-related regulatory concerns, and first-line response and management for all logistics-related SHE incidents

Internal Factors: 

  • Assisting Customer Service with supplier interfaces when disputes or problems arise.  Direct responsibility to manage and investigate freight invoice discrepancies.

External Factors:

  • Effective communication and solid relationships with all carriers and outside vendors.  Responsible for contacting various transportation companies for quotes to ensure best cost, availability, and reliability.  Managing assets and supplier relationships such that order fulfilment is low-cost, efficient, and optimized.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

HSE/ Regulatory: 

  • This position – and all positions – with the INEOS Oxide organization - requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process & Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position.  These Principles are posted throughout each Oxide facility and each employee must commit to following INEOS Life-Saving rules on a daily basis.  These are also posted within each Oxide facility.
  • Completion of all assigned personal regulatory training in time required.
  • Conducting oneself in accordance with the 20 principles.
  • Chemtrec response lead.
  • Safety vetting of carriers.
  • Focal point for all issues related to DOT/ IATA/ Marine safety regulatory compliance (IMDG).
  • Trade compliance accountability for implementation of any requirements impacting INEOS carrier arrangements and processes.

Carrier management

  • Supports Businesses in delivery of product to customer in a safe, timely economical manner while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Document and maintain work processes and procedures for all areas of Logistics
  • Monitor and management of freight cost discrepancies for all modes of transportation (Marine, Rail, ISO tank, Truck, and Drum,).
  • Identify carriers and solutions for changing business logistic requirements
  • Develop responses for customer complaints related to Carrier issues
  • Perform periodic carrier performance reviews based on established performance metrics
  • Ensuring all known INEOS arranged carrier failures are documented and categorized and all complaints logged into Training Mine as part of ISO9001 customer satisfaction monitoring and management.
  • RFP management and implementation of RFP outcome for all transportation modes, including truck, ISO, and rail
  • Provide project support related to carriers and product movement requirements
  • Conduct rail fleet analyses to support strategic business decisions
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies with carriers
  • Ensure carriers perform investigations as required for customer complaint management for transportation complaints
  • Effectively manage rail fleet customer and terminal allocation program
  • Manage various relationships with rail car service providers; repair, Railroad pricing coordinators, and other service providers
  • Manage and report KPIs on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • In combination with sales team, provide effective shipping strategies for new and existing customers

Bulk Tank Trucks

  • Maintain relationships and assist Customer Service in problem resolution.
  • Maintain rate spreadsheets and secure new rates as needed
  • Provide plant loading / shipping requirements to vendors as needed
  • Review / monitor rates weekly specific to LMR supplied updates
  • Assist Sales/Customer Service to secure new rates
  • Create monthly reports for Business Team Meetings

ISO Tanks

  • Maintain relationships and assist Customer Service in problem resolution.
  • Create/Update rate spreadsheets and secure new rates as needed
  • Assist Customer Service with Import and Export ISO tank shipments
  • Supply INEOS AG business managers with rates
  • Create monthly reports for Business Team Meetings

Rail

  • Coordinate all railcar repairs, which could include Estimate Approvals, Rail Billing, creation of OTMA’s, creation of PO’s for repairs
  • Monitor and schedule railcars for recertifications; manage the recertification process such that business impacts are minimized.
  • Create monthly railcar demurrage billing for Customer Service
  • Create monthly reports for Business Team Meetings

Drums / Totes

  • Maintain rates with INEOS AG and US based forwarder. 
  • Request FCL and LCL rates both domestically and International.  
  • Create monthly reports for Business Team Meeting

Budgetary/Cost Control

  • Support Supply Chain Procurement Manager developing annual budget
  • Active freight rate matrix management for truck, rail, ISO and Drum / Tote shipments

Other General Responsibilities

  • All data, project and, reporting requests needed to support the manager in their role
  • Routine presentations, e-mails, and meetings that effectively communicate inventory status/ delivery issues & supply risks
  • Manage/develop tools & spreadsheets as required to support logistics and customer service processes
  • After hours support for customer service dispatch requirements

Skills/Competencies

Level of Education & Experience in general

  • Bachelors degree required or equivalent experience
  • CLTD APICS Certification preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar or related position
  • IMDG / DOT / IATA – Haz certification preferred
  • Previous related experience preferred in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Site Logistics, Supply Chain, and Logistics.

Technical Skills

  • Strong organisational skills required.  Multitask oriented.
  • Good oral and written communication. Independent, highly motivated
  • Computer Literate.   Experience Required :  Excel, Word,  Preferred: SAP R3
  • Training in Logistics/Supply Chain

ADA Physical requirements, visual acuity requirements and environmental conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands.  The employee must occasionally walk, stand and travel by car, airplane or other means.   Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Employee must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens, and to adjust focus.

Work Environment:  This job is performed mainly in a temperature controlled office environment.
