The Acetyls Americas team is responsible for the sales, marketing, customer service, logistics and supply for the US acetic acid business. The US Acetyls market is forecast to grow steadily over the next few years and the business is committed to a growth agenda to capture a substantial portion of this market growth. Our core product range is Acetic Acid and Acetic Anhydride.

The Main Purpose of the Role:  

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for supporting the Supply Chain Manager, Truck & Terminal Manager, and Customer Service team with the execution of logistics operations.  This includes coordinating Methanol deliveries, overseeing freight payment process and resolving payment discrepancies and approving prior cargoes for truck and iso-containers. 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Accountability 1: Inventory Coordination

  • Manage key feedstock inventory to ensure optimal supply to meet production plan.
  • Prepare and issue voyage orders including loading and discharging instructions.
  • Monitor all aspects of delivery and ensure safety requirements are followed as well as ensuring product quality and integrity.
  • Manage daily working relationship with suppliers.

Accountability 2: Truck Operations

  • Support Truck & Terminal Manager in Logistics Execution and Coordination.
  • Monitor and approve all trucking and iso-container priors.
  • Monitor invoice charges and payments for accuracy from logistics providers.
  • Maintain truck carrier freight rates in SAP and AIMMS.
  • Monitor daily delivery schedule and update EDI exceptions as needed.
  • Serve as a back-up to Truck & Terminal Manager, as needed.

Accountability 3:  Import/Export Account Coordination

  • Responsible for marine imports from other regions for both Acetic Anhydride and ethyl acetate (EtAc).
  • Responsible for new customer set-up in all INEOS systems.  
  • Monitor and update SAP pricing file for all customers.
  • Serve as back-up to Inventory Export Coordinator, as needed.

Accountability 4: Logistics Optimization and Procurement

  • Support the procurement of Logistics services (truck, lab services and terminal/transloads) for the Acetyls Americas business.
  • Support truck and terminals contract management.
  • Supports logistics network performance ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • Degree level education in logistics or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years’ work experience in logistics, supply chain or operations within the petrochemical industry preferred
  • Experience in technical and commercial functions – logistics, business management, purchasing

Technical skills

  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • Relationship management
  • Logistics operations understanding
  • Sound understanding of several logistics modes (rail, road, marine)
  • Strong competence with standard business software (Excel / Word / PowerPoint)
