The Position: Logistics Coordinator - Imports and Exports -The key objective of this position is to lead the annual global tender process for North American ocean export contract negotiations; serve as an integral part of the global tender strategy and negotiation process for containerized cargo imported into North American ports; assist with the negotiation of the annual North American freight forwarder contract(s); and manage the relationships and performance of these vendors.

What you will do:

  • Contract Negotiations:
    • Lead negotiator on the global maritime tender with preferred carriers for volumes exported from North America and preferred freight forwarders
    • Coordinate negotiations for import and export drayage for North America in conjunction with the truck/terminal manager
    • Monitor market trends and develop annual negotiation strategy and position
    • Analyze proposals and negotiate contract terms and conditions and review effective and completion/termination dates
    • Prepare and present financial analysis to the US and global teams for contract approval
    • Review and execute signing and contract acceptance through INEOS Styrolution’s legal team, carriers and freight forwarders
  • Monitor contract fulfillment by all ocean carriers, freight forwarders, and import/export drayage companies 
  • Develop and report monthly KPI’s affecting on-time-delivery and vendor performance
  • Build and maintain relationships with outside vendors
  • Maintain routing and rates in SAP, adjusting quarterly due to bunker fuel
  • Procure spot rates for LCL shipments and one-off ocean and air freight shipments and rates for new routes 
  • Investigate and resolve non-compliance complaints for ocean and air export shipment
  • Responsible for INEOS Styrolution’s demurrage management program to limit financial exposure and provide weekly updates to relevant business personnel
  • Approve and supervise payment of invoices, including systems and processes 
  • Provide support to Customer Service and Account Managers in the US and Mexico on matters related to international ocean/air carrier services, including booking issues
  • Apply understanding and working knowledge of HAZMAT logistics
  • Trade Compliance

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of logistics, or approximate equivalent combination of education and logistics knowledge
  • Manufacturing (chemical, oil/gas, plastics) or similar industry 
  • Supply Chain related activities including logistics, transportation, distribution planning or procurement
  • Analytical, organization, attention to detail, and adjusting priorities 
  • SAP sales/distribution/plant (HTS codes)/accounting modules, Excel and MS office applications

The Location: This opportunity is located in Aurora, Illinois only 5 miles from downtown Naperville.
