Lead Marine Coordinator/Scheduler

Role synopsis:

This position is responsible for efficient, reliable, and safe execution of the Aromatics Americas liquids supply plan, scheduling physical movements into and out of the supply system while making efficiency and economic trade-offs.  The marine coordinator plays a vital role in moving feedstock from suppliers to key customers, supplying the INEOS Aromatics purchase and sales demand, executing trading and asset strategies, and executing the overall marine supply chain process.  The marine coordinator is also responsible for collaborating closely with the Product Manager, Business Feedstocks Manager, Procurement director, Finance team, Customer Service Reps, INEOS Vetting and Assurance team, third party suppliers / customers, inspection companies, and internal / external terminal personnel to deliver continuous supply of feedstock and product for the Aromatics Americas liquids business.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of owned, time, and voyage charter vessels and barges ensuring compliance with agreed charter party terms
  • Manage and optimize utilization (including dead freight) of all INEOS Aromatics marine equipment
  • Prepare and issue voyage orders including loading and discharging instructions
  • Awareness of barge loading and unloading to ensure safety requirements are followed and operations are conducted safely
  • Engage with Aromatics commercial team to understand the business value behind decisions to assist in driving results for the business
  • Understand commercial aspects around the logistics components and work to monetize on INEOS Aromatics’ behalf and capture using metrics and KPIs
  • Identify and lead projects and initiatives that improve or optimize operations and create new business optionality / flexibility / value
  • Provide input to annual plan process by developing a logistics plan for marine equipment utilization
  • Modelling of various commercial scenarios as needed
  • Manage third party relationships and interface with operations / commercial counterparts to coordinate term and spot deals to efficiently manage the movement of products as well as ensuring product quality and integrity
  • Liaise daily with technical superintendents and port agents to ensure safe and efficient commercial operations
  • Manage INEOS Aromatics leased third party tankage operations, inventory, and quality as well as contract renewal, business development, and relationship management
  • Analyze all third party presented barge demurrage as well as INEOS Aromatics time-chartered voyage moves; present, negotiate, and invoice as needed
  • Assist in negotiations, analysis, and modelling during contract renewal on all marine equipment

Skills & Knowledge Required:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of operations, logistics, and/or commercial experience.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of the petrochemicals industry
  • Commercially focused, but balanced with a bias towards safe & compliant execution
  • Strong ability to communicate and influence across all levels and functions of the organization
  • Effective at building and nurturing internal and external relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing competing priorities accurately and timely within a specified timeline
  • Some knowledge of sales, market analysis, and the ability to recognize the feasibility of trading opportunities given current operating environment
