A truly global company, INEOS is one of the world’s largest chemical companies. 

The ethylene cracker at our INEOS O&P business in Grangemouth has a substantial program of projects underway, comprising the completion of the final phases of a new build furnace, and a suite of projects that are under development for delivery between now and early 2024.

A Lead Completions Engineer is one of a number of experienced project professionals INEOS is seeking, to join the existing team to support this major investment program.

Job Purpose

  • Lead all completions and close out strategies for projects to optimise the business schedule, cost and quality.
  • Provide leadership for the completions function on site projects to assure a quality handover to agreed timescales.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Lead, control and motivate the completions team to deliver quality assurance of construction completion across a multi-discipline team to meet business goals for cost, schedule, HSE and quality.
  • Provide expertise on completions matters to the Projects and Technical teams to comply with legislative requirements and INEOS standards and policies.
  • Review project plans, study reports and project execution plans to calculate person hour estimates for completions resources required to deliver projects.
  • Review and approve the completions strategies for individual projects to ensure they are optimal for the work scope and will enable a controlled handover to the Asset.
  • Develop the completions handover methodology, aligning to commissioning/phased handover philosophy and priorities.
  • Monitor construction alignment to commissioning needs and adapt completions plans to correspond.
  • Define and manage the completions close out strategy ahead of and during the close out phases of projects to ensure close out of the job within agreed timescales and site standards.
  • Set appropriate Key Performance Indicators for completions activities, monitor performance and make recommendations to the Projects Manager to drive continual improvements.

Special Features

  • Requirement for individual to interface / coordinate with a wide range of roles.
  • The project programme comprises of multi-discipline projects running concurrently.
  • Some periods of inconvenience to support turnarounds and urgent plant commissioning schedules.

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

  • Degree qualified/NVQ level four or more than ten years’ experience in an engineering environment.
  • A detailed understanding of project management processes.
  • Competent line manager.
  • Expert knowledge of a Completions Database system.
  • Ability to communicate and network effectively across various levels both within INEOS and with third party companies.
  • Disciplined planning and organisation skills together with the ability to perform under pressure and adapt in a changing environment.
  • Has a logical, proactive and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Bias for action to deliver on all actions to a high standard and in line with project schedule.
  • Has the ability to compile and analyse data and information and to report recommendations with justification.
  • Commitment to excellent SHE performance and zero tolerance for unsafe conditions/ behaviours.
