LEAD ASSET MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the post holder will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all static mechanical equipment on the KG Asset through development and delivery of an appropriate strategy, aligned to business objectives.
Principle Accountabilities
- Demonstrably support the INEOS 20 principles for Managing Behavioural and Process Safety.
- Lead the team of static mechanical engineers within the KG Engineering Team; through setting a positive example, employing a rigorous approach to compliance and helping set clear expectations that empower engineers to deliver.
- Overall responsibility for Integrity Management of all pressure systems and non-pressure systems static mechanical equipment including over-pressure protective systems.
- Propose and audit asset care plans for relevant static mechanical equipment to achieve reliability targets between TAR events and avoid unplanned breakdowns.
- Manage and audit ageing assets strategy; including proactive fabric maintenance programmes to maintain asset condition in support of continued safe, reliable operation.
- Define and recommend improvements on the asset to increase reliability and reduce maintenance spend.
- Define and manage associated annual budgets necessary to meet targets within financial objectives.
- Support all mechanical upgrade projects aimed at improving the performance and reliability of the assets.
- Provide input to remaining life determination and extension, obsolescence studies and asset life cycle strategies.
- Achieve and maintain Mechanical Technical Approver status in support of Management of Change.
- Lead trouble-shooting on critical equipment failures to establish root cause and define improvements to eliminate faults.
- As a discipline specialist, provide training and education to the Technician and Operator population.
- Support and propagate networks, both within INEOS and externally, to share knowledge and develop a library on improvements and best practices.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Knowledgeable in the management of ageing assets.
- Proficient with all key legislative requirements as well as national and international codes and standards.
- Contribute to the management of Capital Expenditure.
- Theoretical knowledge in operating environment covering major static mechanical equipment types.
- Carry out supplier performance management and be the key contract contact for applicable equipment.
- Participate in risk assessment and asset management relating to the safe operation of equipment
- Will have an established discipline network external to site
Qualifications and technical experience
- Chartered Mechanical Engineer (or in/close to the process of application).
- At least 5 years of mechanical engineering knowledge & experience in a manufacturing/energy environment.
- Proven track record in the management and delivery of complex engineering activity.
- Strong communicator, skilled in leadership with the ability to drive performance.
- Good understanding of manufacturing and commercial interdependencies and a strong ability to challenge established practice and look for improvements.
- Experienced in the coaching, influencing and development of others.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
