Role Synopsis

This position provides regulatory compliance for the Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program including monitoring, record keeping and reporting for the Cooper River Plant. The position also performs site Industrial Hygiene (IH) sampling, Hazardous Waste and Universal waste management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable for the compliance, execution and delivery of the LDAR program at Cooper River Facility.
  • Responsible for reporting all LDAR leaks found in the units to maintenance coordinators to ensure repair and minimize loss of Paraxylene and Acetic Acid from the operating units, helping optimize unit performance and environmental compliance.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines for all repair attempts, final repairs / replacement of leaking components, and components on Delay of Repair.
  • Accountable for writing and submit bi-annual regulatory LDAR reports to environmental engineer for review and plant manager for approval prior to submitting to DHEC.
  • Accountable that all LDAR data on leaking components, new components, and components removed from service are updated in the LDAR Leaders database to ensure required monitoring is completed.
  • Accountable for collecting and submitting for laboratory analysis quarterly IH samples needed for the plant site per yearly schedule set by Industrial Hygienist.
  • Accountable for inspecting all Universal waste and Hazardous waste. Responsible for collecting waste from satellite areas, palletizing waste and scheduling removal from site at the frequency set forth in regulatory guidelines. Document inspections on SOP checklists and retain records in HSSE compliance files.
  • Accountable for performing a monthly inspection of all totes containing used oil on plant site and record inspections.

Essential Education

Must have high school diploma or GED.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

  • Must be internally motivated to accomplish work tasks on-time with the highest levels of integrity and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with limited direction
  • 2 years field experience in the Petrochemical, Refining or related process manufacturing industries
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with others and follow-up to ensure that legal requirements are met
  • Must have basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable Criteria / Qualifications

  • Desirable to have at least 3 years field experience in the Petrochemical, Refining or related industry performing Industrial Hygiene or Leak Detection (fugitive emissions) monitoring
  • Experience with the LEADERS software database that used to manage Leak Detection and Repair Monitoring schedules and results
  • Previous experience in conducting Industrial Hygiene monitoring (chemical, noise, lighting, etc.)
  • Familiarity of environmental requirements associated with waste inspections and shipment

Physical Demands

  • Physically capable of climbing ladders, stairs, and working outside in various weather conditions
  • Able to work at height from aerial lifts

  • Must be at least 18 years of age; legally authorized to work in the United States; and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., TN, H1B status), now or in the future.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, write, and read English.
