Job Purpose

To provide an accurate and timely inventory accounting service for the O&P Europe businesses to ensure Group accounting standards are met.

The role assists the Process Control Team Leader in providing control and assurance for all aspects of inventory accounting for the INEOS Group businesses which use SAP EOP system.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Calculate, analyse & release Inventory Valuation price set to permit material movements & provide foundation for inventory accounting within SAP system
  • Actively take part in any projects involving converting stock from one Company to another, providing data lists and checking end results to ensure completeness of data transferred.
  • Provide support for statutory audit requests.
  • Collate & report monthly inventory stock assurance process to meet audit requirements & ensure physical stock accuracy.
  • To compile and review Financial Replacement Cost material valuation to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Review Material Masterdata to makes sure they are maintained correctly for the business requirements.
  • Calculate and post monthly accounting entries for provisions to meet statutory accounting requirements and business reporting, for example :

FIFO stock layering

Net Realisible Value calculation to ensure that the inventory is valued at the lower of cost or market. To stop the business overstating the inventory value.

Identify Slow Moving Stock and calculate the provision required for the business.

Calculate the monthly Export COGS (Stock in Transit) accrual.

  • Reconcile, investigate and take remedial action to inventory accounting ledgers and sub ledgers to ensure they are in alignment to meet business reporting requirements and external audit requirements.
  • Reconcile monthly Inventory manual post and inventory provision accounts.
  • Daily analysis of moving average price materials to monitor high price movements are accurate.
  • Run Manufacturing Cost Settlement Utility Process - work with sites to upload the quantity and prices used by the manufacturing units. Carry out Utility Cost Settlement process. Investigate errors and use best judgment to clear them, before full Manufacturing Cost Settlement process is run.
  • Support the Inventory Monetorisation process for stock ownership and collateral daily reporting.
  • Maintain Pricing Conditions and Stock Write off/on’s as required by the business.
  • Cover for Process Control Team Leader in all aspects of Inventory Accounting.

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of financial accounting, qualified to a minimum HNC standard in Business and Finance with years 2 experience.

or

  • 5+ years’ experience in an accounting role in a complex multinational business.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Pro-active and self-motivating attitude.
  • Excellent team player with very good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to very tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of the chemicals manufacturing process and products would be beneficial.
  • Diverse, cross functional knowledge of SAP modules or equivalent ERP system would be desirable.
