Context: INEOS is a large petrochemicals company that has recently diversified into the automotive sector. As such, INEOS Automotive is a new entrant OEM and its first vehicle “Grenadier” is imminently approaching its product launch.
The Role: We are looking for a talented and experienced Material Flow Planning and Optimization Lead who brings proven success in developing and continuously improving material flows across main plant production areas that will make the intralogistics set-up at plant more efficient, reliable, and cost effective. Your in-depth knowledge and experience in material flow design will ensure the best possible flows are in place and are in line with the business group strategy. The role requires your hands-on attitude coupled with experience in delivering holistic strategies to thrive in this fast-paced environment.
What you will be doing:
- Functional Lead of a team of internal material flow planers and external consultants / temporary workforce
- Design and implement material flow strategies for all main plant production areas like Bodyshop, Paintshop & General Assembly, the plant compound as well as a potential external Warehouse
- Deploy action from high to detailed level to team members and relevant stakeholders
- Planning the complete SCM material flow process model & logistics layout in the plant (goods receipt, warehouse, kitting and sequencing processes for the parts to the point of use in manufacturing, and outbound process to compound)
- Design and implementation of complex intralogistics processes – like shopping carts, sequencing operations, supermarket concepts and routing as well as layout planning
- Definition and design of delivery concepts (JIS, JIT)
- Define, implement, and continuously improve layout of all relevant logistics areas with the relevant internal and external stakeholders (e.g logistics Service providers)
- Ensuring logistics operations execution plan is robust and thoroughly documented (incl. external Warehouse, the plant compound, and the plant logistics areas themselves)
- Support program launch with deep analyzes and, material flow concepts and strategy to advise best in calls intralogistics material flow for potential future vehicle programs
- Optimization, development, and adaptation of logistics processes after vehicle ramp-up to stabilize, secure processes and increase efficiency.
- Development and optimization of IAL supply chain operating model and SC capabilities
- Calculate budget (OPEX & CAPEX) for business case decisions and updates for intralogistics operations as well as baseline for LSP tendering and yearly budget adherence compliance
- Budget responsibility for planning and aligning infrastructure as well as material handling and storage equipment.
- Identify industry standards as well as best practices and benchmark for a lean and robust material flow design as well as best-in class safety procedures and technologies
- Work cross functionally with the Manufacturing, Controlling, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, HSE and Facility Teams to ensure material flows are created collaboratively and continuously optimized to increase process efficiency and therefore generate savings
- Build up strong and reliable process documentation and project status report out structure up to level of CEO
- Network with the wider INEOS organisation to maximise group leverage possibilities.
What you will bring:
- Diploma or Master’s degree in the field of material flow design, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, logistics or a comparable qualification
- Solid Logistics experience gained at either an automotive OEM or a Tier 1 automotive supplier
- Experience in leading functional teams in Logistics or Manufacturing planning mandatory
- Experience in value stream / supply chain analysis and optimization
- Experience in planning, design, and implementation of intralogistics processes – experience in Final Assembly and Bodyshop of advantage
- Able to manage stakeholder expectations and possesses strong communication skills, up to Director’s level.
- Be able to step up on difficult negotiations with stakeholders, ensuring relationship building, prioritizing, and balancing company’s goals and Supply Chain targets
- Lean Management and QMS certification such as Six Sigma of advantage
- Fluent English Speaker and willingness to travel frequently
- Results oriented, makes things happen, leads others and is open for change
- Strong forward planning skills, actions planning and deployment, ability to navigate from high to deep in detail level smoothly, maintaining the efficiency of the communication throughout all levels of the organisation
- Must be innovative, challenging, and entrepreneurial, believes in continuous improvement and the application of lean principles
