Instrumentation and Electrical Supervisor

About the Role

The Instrument & Electrical Supervisor role is responsible for leading and supervising I&E Mechanics. They assist in achieving optimum results and driving improvements in safety, environmental, quality, cost and reliability by leveraging the full value all employees. The Supervisor develops I&E personnel through coaching, feedback, and unit assignments – through periodic job performance reviews as needed. This is a salaried exempt, day shift position. It is classified as a Safety Critical role.

  • Coach and encourage employees to perform mechanical and maintenance skilled work in a safe, efficient and reliable manner, foster teamwork and pride in the crew, and communicate plant goals, standards and direction, and ensure accountability
  • Ensure that the workplace is free of harassment, discrimination and that individuals are treated with respect
  • Ensure that all work is done in accordance with applicable policies, standards, procedures, and protocol
  • Coordinate Maintenance activities with the Operations Department, Planner / Scheduler, Operations Supervision, and other personnel as appropriate
  • Maintain on going communications with these parties concerning job status, problems that may arise, and recommended solutions
  • Develop, coordinate and issue daily instructions for personnel to meet all day-to-day objectives with respect to safety, environmental control, efficiency, reliability and productivity
  • Ensure that tools, equipment, and other resources are available to employees for safe, competent, and timely completion of assigned work
  • Assist the Planner / Scheduler and other Supervisors in estimating jobs, and resolve workflow problems
  • Maintain focus on the long-term goals of the Company while taking responsibility for daily results and driving improvements in safety, environmental, quality, cost and reliability along with the implementation of changes in policies and procedures
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and toolbox talks with employees, and ensure the ongoing compliance of safety rules, safe work practices, and housekeeping
  • Foster teamwork across the maintenance and I/E organization and with all other functional groups to ensure activities are well-aligned and maximize positive impact
  • Manage the performance and development of maintenance personnel through on going feedback, annual performance reviews, coaching, counseling, and recognition
  • Provide off-hours coverage as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

You should possess:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education in electrical and instrumentation is preferred
  • Leadership training a plus.
  • Electrical Journeyman’s certification is desired
  • Possess a minimum of ten (10) years of related instrument and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards and model the appropriate behaviors
  • Knowledge or various mechanical equipment and machinery
  • Functionality with various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Ability to provide direction, oversight, coaching and development to the I&E Department to ensure safe, productive and efficient operations
  • Efficient and effective completion of job responsibilities in a safe and timely manner
  • Participation in Root Cause Analysis, process issues investigations and resolution
  • Maintain costs within budgetary guidance
  • Knowledge of industrial power systems, control systems and instrumentation systems.
  • Be able to use analytical processes (appraise a situation, develop supporting plans, make decisions, generate innovative ideas, analyze and troubleshoot instrument and electrical issues)
  • Working knowledge of chemical/industrial equipment function, design, and regulatory requirements and Process Safety Management and ISO systems and procedures
  • Functionality with various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Six Sigma training a plus

Schedule/Hours

This is a salaried exempt day shift position. Normal work hours are from 0700 - 1530 with on-call responsibilities 24 hours per day.
