The Position: Instrument & Electrical Reliability Technician -This position will provide I&E Reliability support to the Channahon site to ensure equipment integrity is preserved. This role also provides support for instrumentation and electrical functional design, Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), PM program development using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles, predictive maintenance technologies, and OSHA 1910.199 Mechanical integrity program adherence.
What you will do:
Ensure mechanical integrity requirements under OSHA’s Process Safety Management are met.
Lead plant reliability improvement initiatives, which focus on eliminating significant and recurring reliability issues.
Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines the site “Asset Management Plan” that includes:
Value added preventive maintenance tasks to help control and reduce maintenance costs.
Effective utilization of predictive and preventive methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
Responsible for tasks associated with the mechanical integrity and regulatory compliance of site I&E equipment through use of SAP.
Accountable for several PM programs, including but not limited to, IR Thermography, grounding surveys, heat trace PM, and others as assigned.
Assists in design work and field/project coordination on assigned portion of electrical systems, instrumentation & control of new project construction.
Applies practices and standards relating to electrical design of plant facilities. This includes all applicable codes, company policies, safety and other standards necessary to produce functional designs and drawings for project packages. This necessitates being familiar with specifications and drawings, drafting room procedures, indexes, vendor drawings and technical data books.
Acts as a site resource for electrical systems, instrument, and controls (standards, training, improvement, etc.).
Will work with electricians, I&E technicians, vendor representatives (i.e. ComEd as alternate contact) and corporate maintenance/engineering personnel.
Determines and executes any additions and or modifications to electrical, instrument, P&I, and loop diagrams for update or as built purposes or as part of project design/build.
Identify, create and refine site reliability and maintenance standard operating procedures.
Lead efforts to optimize spare parts inventory to achieve optimal reliability at the lowest cost.
Participates in and provides input to Process Hazard Assessments (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and Management of Change (MOC) process.
What you will bring:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred candidate will have a minimum of an associate's degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
7+ years of experience in industrial maintenance at an industrial chemical manufacturing plant or similar environment.
Familiarity/understanding of electrical design and applicable codes and comfortability of working with distribution voltages (up to 13.2 kV).
Requires a high degree of initiative and ingenuity to work with production, contractors, engineering, maintenance craft persons and site functions.
Thorough understanding and knowledge of safety regulations and standard operating procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on condition monitoring software, Microsoft office and SAP.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of NFPA 70E and NEC requirements.
Knowledge of industrial refrigeration. Applicable certifications preferred.
Possession of or ability to achieve Level 2 certification in IR Thermography
Physical demands:
Frequent sitting over 4 hours and viewing CTR monitor, simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation of both hands and exposure to high noise level.
Occasional alternate sit/stand for over 3 hours, lifting/carrying up to 50lbs, pushing/pulling from a standing/seated position, kneeling, crawling, balancing, twisting/turning, reaching above shoulder level, operating machinery, wearing occlusive clothing, exposure to allergic agents, enclosed spaces, wet conditions and reduced lighting.
Medical clearance to wear a half-face respirator
The Location: This opportunity is located in Channahon, Illinois, only one hour from Chicago, Illinois.
