INEOS at Grangemouth is a top tier COMAH site. Assets include an ethylene cracker, power station, ethane loading terminal and several other major petrochemicals process plants and infrastructure.
The UKAS accredited in-house inspection body require a CAT 2 or 3 Inspection Engineer with relevant experience in the inspection and assessment of process piping within a polymers production facility.
Job Purpose
As an inspection engineer you are required to physically inspect, assess and report on the condition of large process piping systems. Acting as the ‘competent person’ as defined in the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, the role includes evaluating equipment condition and determining the suitability for further service. All inspections are carried in accordance with INEOS procedures, site standards and international design codes in order to comply with UK legislation.
Job Requirements
- Ability to understand and accurately follow P&IDs.
- Prepare and review of Written Schemes of Examination (WSE).
- Identify the scope of preparation to meet the WSE requirements.
- Carry out physical inspections of process piping systems.
- Define and coordinate NDT to supplement assessment for continued service of aged components. Review and accept NDT results.
- Assess as found deterioration and calculate rates of degradation to support continued endorsement.
- Identify repairs and raise recommendations for remedial action.
- Write clear and accurate technical reports in English in a timely manner that fully detail the results of examination carried out.
- Ability to provide clear daily communication with asset representatives on inspection progress.
Qualifications, knowledge and Skills
- Candidates should hold a relevant mechanical or materials engineering degree, or as a minimum, a HNC in mechanical engineering or equivalent plus API 570 Piping Inspector certification.
- At least three years spent directly conducting in-service statutory examinations on major pressure systems under PSSR.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation such as PSSR and piping related inspection & design codes.
- Proficient in the use of Credo.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent eye for detail and an ability to follow procedures accurately.
