Organizational context and job purpose

INEOS Nitriles is a global chemicals business with sales volume of 1200 kte and revenue in excess of $3 billion.  The Nitriles business has 2 manufacturing operations in the US and 1 in Europe along with offices and headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland and Aurora, Illinois near Chicago. The Nitriles Business primary products include acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide, and acetonitrile.  Additionally, Nitriles also has a manufacturing operation that produces catalyst for internal use at the Lima Site, globally within Ineos, and for other Acrylonitrile producers. The INEOS Nitriles Plant at Lima is part of an industrial campus which includes a refinery and chemical complex. INEOS share services, utilities, products, and feedstocks with four adjacent manufacturing facilities:  Nutrien (ammonia, urea, nitric acid), Fort Amanda Specialties (chelates), Ashland (1,4-butanediol), and Cenovus Refining (propylene, fuels, and refined oil products).

The person in this role will support the HR Department and will serve as the payroll back-up and become proficient with HRIS, providing data when requested.   The role performs complex and diversified duties, requiring judgement in the selection and interpretation of data, and a thorough knowledge of department and corporate policies and procedures.  The role will identify, define, and resolve increasingly complex problems within the scope of responsibility.  The position holder will also plan and prioritize own tasks while developing an awareness of other activities.

The Total Quality Management System shall be incorporated into all job activities.  All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Visibly supports and promotes the INEOS 20 Principles and Culture of Prevention.
  • Supports HR Operations Analyst in all aspects of payroll processing both for hourly and exempt/non-exempt employees.  Responsible for complete payroll duties in HR Operations Analyst absence.
  • Back up for Virtual Training Assistant program. Inputs training attendance sheets / records for plant.
  • Coordinate and plan employee activities, holiday gifts, employee events and company milestones (i.e. GoRunForFun, United Way)
  • Assist in hiring process by:
    • Preparing interview packets
    • Scheduling interviews
    • Planning lunches when needed
    • Planning of schedules with recruiters, interviewers and/or interviewees
    • Assist during physical agility testing
    • Submit background checks for new hires
    • Schedule new hire hourly orientation
    • Coordinate new hire IT requests
    • Track hourly evaluations
  • Generates all purchase requisitions and pays all invoices for HR
  • Support labor relations by scheduling, scribing, and distributing monthly union management meeting meetings for the record
  • Scribe for labor negotiations and special meetings
  • Manage service award program
  • Coordinate special events, business team meetings, townhalls, etc
  • Maintain Lima HR Sharepoint site
  • Tracks performance appraisal process
  • Maintains employee personnel files
  • Maintains employee list for drug screens in Aurora
  • Maintains site bulletin boards and legal compliance posters
  • Maintains postage machine
  • Tracks and maintains contributions against the contributions budget and associated check requests
  • Housekeeping audits for HR's assigned areas
  • Coordinate and manage digital file storage for department
  • Manages coop onboarding and off-boarding

Skills & Knowledge Required

In compliance with INEOS COVID protocols, incumbent must be fully vaccinated (2 weeks past the last dose of COVID vaccine) prior to start date.

Education/Experience

  • AAS Degree or higher and/or 10 years of experience in related field
  • Payroll experience is required
  • SAP experience is preferred
  • VTA experience is preferred
  • Workday experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in a focused service orientation role is preferred

Skills/Competencies

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong communication skills
  • Advanced PC skills including associated software and databases. Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VTA, SAP, and Workday
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision or direction
  • Must be flexible and willing to handle a wide variety of responsibilities and take the initiative to manage tasks independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with individuals inside and outside the company
  • Ability to effectively judge and prioritize workload
  • Is a team player; focusing on the success of and benefit to the team, above own desires and personal agenda
  • Proactive approach in seeking out solutions and answers rather than passing on problems to others
  • Relentless attention to ensuring accuracy and follow up on unresolved issues
  • Computer systems background is a plus

Target salary range: $63,000 - $66,000 based on skills and experience
