Organizational context and job purpose

INEOS Nitriles is a global chemicals business with sales volume of 1200 kte and revenue in excess of $3 billion.  The Nitriles business has 2 manufacturing operations in the US and 1 in Europe along with offices and headquarters in Rolle, Switzerland and Aurora, Illinois near Chicago. The Nitriles Business primary products include acrylonitrile, hydrogen cyanide, and acetonitrile.  Additionally, Nitriles also has a manufacturing operation that produces catalyst for internal use at the Lima Site, globally within Ineos, and for other Acrylonitrile producers. The INEOS Nitriles Plant at Lima is part of an industrial campus which includes a refinery and chemical complex. INEOS share services, utilities, products, and feedstocks with four adjacent manufacturing facilities:  Nutrien (ammonia, urea, nitric acid), Fort Amanda Specialties (chelates), Ashland (1,4-butanediol), and Cenovus Refining (propylene, fuels, and refined oil products).

The person in this role will support the HR Department and will serve as the payroll back-up and become proficient in the HRIS, providing data when requested. 

The Total Quality Management System shall be incorporated into all job activities.  All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and Plan employee activities including holiday gifts, employee and company milestones (i.e. Go Run for Fun, United Way)
  • Assist in hiring process by:
    • Preparing interview packets to Lima members
    • Scheduling interviews for Lima personnel
    • Planning lunches when needed
    • Planning of schedules with recruiters and/or interviewees
    • Assist during physical abilities testing
    • Submit background checks for new hires
  • Generates all purchase requisitions and pays all invoices for HR
  • Support labor relations and schedules, scribes and distributes monthly union management meeting meetings for the record
  • Scribe for labor negotiations and special meetings
  • Manage service award program
  • Coordinate special events, business team meetings, townhalls, etc
  • Maintain Lima site website
  • Back up to payroll
  • Back up for Virtual Training Assistant
  • Tracks performance appraisal process
  • Schedules new hire hourly orientation
  • Coordinates new hire IT requests
  • Maintains employees files
  • Develops random list for drug screens in Aurora quarterly
  • Maintains site bulletin boards and legal compliance posters
  • Maintains postage machine
  • Input training attendance sheets for plant
  • Orders lunches for meetings when necessary
  • Tracks and maintains contributions against the contributions budget and associated check requests
  • Housekeeping audits for HR's assigned areas
  • Does all shredding and scanning
  • Manages coop onboarding and off-boarding
  • Track hourly evaluations

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • AAS Degree or higher and/or 10 years of experience in related field
  • SAP experience is preferred
  • Payroll experience is required
  • VTA experience is preferred
  • Workday experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in a focused service orientation role is preferred
