Purpose:

This role is a key member of the business leadership team and is a key role within Aromatics finance and reports to the Aromatics Finance Director who is based in Chicago.  In addition the role acts as BP Zhuhai Chemical company board secretary, is ECL for Aromatics China and supports the Aromatics Asia Finance Director for performance management of CAPCO, a joint venture in Taiwan. 

The Head of Finance Asia is responsible for integrating and delivering the full suite of Finance accountabilities including treasury and credit in Asia. This includes ensuring all accounting, reporting, control activities are carried out on time and to a good standard, completing the planning and 5 year shape process for Aromatics China including updating the business improvement plan and working with the commercial director and plant manager to manage the performance of the business.  In addition, the postholder is the compliance and ethics liaison for the business.

Throughout the accountabilities of the role, the Head of Finance leads the identification of continuous efficiency improvements in Finance processes and drives continuous improvement of business performance.

 

Responsibilities/ Accountabilities of the job:

Risk, Control, Compliance, Accounting & Reporting Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the overall accuracy of reporting, close process and managing robust interfaces with the rest of the business.
  • Oversee all key financial processes namely order to cash, purchase to pay, and record to report to ensure both internal and external reporting requirements including Ineos policies and local standards met.
  • Maintain strong internal control environment in compliance with Ineo’s key processes standards (e.g. delegations of authority, segregation of duties, etc.).
  • Drive the Ethics & Compliance agenda.
  • Ensure corporate governance requirement has been met in the capacity of board secretary.

 

Planning & Performance Management & Reporting

  • Partner with other business stakeholders to shape business strategy for the longer term and translate business strategy into annual plan and mid-term/long-term business plan.
  • Lead the performance management of the business in conjunction with the commercial director and plant manager to drive annual plan delivery supported by a robust response plan.
  • Accountable for the GFO process to ensure plans and forecasts are grounded in the reality of the business and external environment as well as delivered on time and accurately represented in the MI system
  • Accountable for providing timely, accurate and reliable financial and management information, including analysis and interpretation to highlight where performance intervention is required.
  • Identify and lead interventions based on business insights from both financial and non-financial MI.
  • Drive effective Cash & Working Capital management.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practice and conduct regular benchmarking to drive performance.

 

Strategy and Projects

  • Show proactive and visible engagement on strategy development and lead the investment analysis process for capital and revenue projects - ensuring FMs and ATNs comply with GIAAPS.
  • Act as gatekeeper to projects, providing a broad business perspective combined with strong financial skills, and provide assurance to projects and post controls.
  • Oversee the EFM process - identifying risk, making business choices, and identifying interventions if and when a project loses momentum.

 

Partnering

  • Integrate across Finance and other business teams, acting as ‘co-pilot’ to the business and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Support Business Director and Plant Manager and drive delivery of business improvement plan.
  • Facilitate conversations between relevant parties to ensure financial implications are understood, transparent, and the right actions are in place to maintain financial integrity and ensure strategic targets are met.
  • Work together with banks to ensure the liquidity of Ineos Zhuhai site.

 

Leadership and People Management

  • Provide clarity of roles and accountabilities for Finance staff and ensures effective execution.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to raise the bar on performance and drives continuous improvement.
  • Deliver the people agenda and facilitates team development – building capability and developing talent.
  • Challenge and coach staff across the business and help to drive a performance culture.
  • Lead HSSE agenda in the team and act as a role model.

Required profile:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required - preferably in Finance, Business, or Accounting.
  • MBA and professional qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, and CPA) is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi - cultural environment through influencing and interpersonal skill.
  • Minimum 10 years finance experience
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • Strong numerical and analytic skills, business acumen and understanding of business drivers.
  • Excellent communication / interpersonal skills.
  • Performance driven and able to deal with ambiguity and manage towards strict deadlines.
  • Fluency in “business English” is mandatory.
  • Petrochemicals, Fuels Value Chain or related business experiences are preferred.
