Your role: You will be responsible for performing hand modeling in various materials to produce three dimensional full-size and scale automotive models and/or components from verbal instruction and various two-dimensional specifications. You will need to have ability to interact and fit into a small, highly motivated, international team. This position requires a high degree of creativity, skill, accuracy, and coordination in a collaborative team-based environment with the ability to exercise independent judgment with available supervision as needed.
To strengthen our Design team with focus on Grenadier derivatives, but also in expanding our business into a multi car line company we are looking for a Hard Modeler (Design Team) at INEOS Automotive, who will work within a scale-up and fast-moving environment. You will be surrounded by a team of experts in their field and be given the autonomy and freedom to develop the role as we grow.
Responsabilities include (but are not limited to):
- Support the team in quickly bringing a sketch into a 3D model to share the design intent with the relevant parties (e.g. engineering, suppliers or top management)
- Support the designers with concept modelling as well as working with CAD modelers, to address design modifications and to collect all geometrical inputs for your models
- Prepare the models for milling or for internal Design Reviews and presentations
- Build physical mockups and prototypes, based on a variegated list of requests: ergonomic, aesthetic models, concept demonstrators, detail solutions
- Deeping and proofing yourself on a multitude of technics, tools and materials: alu profiles, wood, hard/ soft foam, clay, 3D prints, etc…
- Support on setting up milling machine programs
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 3+ years modeling experience
- High aptitude translating 2D models to 3D
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills
- Ability to read line drawings, perform basic math calculations, operate shop machinery
- Ability to stand for long durations of time in addition to stooping, bending, etc.
- A knowledge of milling machine set up and operation is an advantage, but training can be made available to the successful applicant.
- Proficiency in models workshop environment (i.e. band saw, hand tools etc.)
- Flexible with managing project of different nature, that requires different construction methods, materials and tools
- Flexible with working hours to coincide with deadlines and milestones
- Great communication, work organization and pro-activeness skills are must
- The ideal candidate should be able to work flexibly in a team environment
- Spray painting ability would be an advantage
- English language skills is a requirement, German is a plus
