Job Overview
The Human Resources & Payroll Specialist is responsible for day-to-day administration of various HR programs and processes for the site including bi-weekly payroll, time and attendance reporting, benefit administration, recruitment support, vendor bill payments, worker’s compensation, FMLA/short and long term disability, interpretation of policy, and support for employee events for the two plant locations.
What are some key things you will do:
- Process bi-weekly hourly payroll and compile input for salaried payroll in HRIS System.
- Adhere to and maintain high level of auditing procedures to ensure accurate payroll records and reconcile as required (typically quarterly) for 941 filing.
- Update payroll/personnel HRIS system for hires, promotions, terminations, disabilities, increases, etc.
- Track and report on people data (e.g., hourly lost time hours, headcount, overtime, discipline); prepares monthly reports (KPI, turnover, headcount, etc).
- Answer HR/benefits-related employee questions.
- Assist with site salaried recruiting and recruits for hourly positions. This includes preparing postings, scheduling screenings, issuing letters, initiating and tracking pre-employment screens, and conducting new hire orientations (NHO).
- Maintain appropriate record keeping (i.e. personnel files, benefits files, medical files, vendor billing files, I-9 documentation, etc.).
- Respond pro-actively to complaints, conflicts, and HR related questions for employees.
What you will bring:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of Human Resources experience, including but not limited to Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, Payroll Processing, and Recruiting is required.
- Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll systems required.
- High School Diploma, GED, or ability to read, write, and perform mathematics at these levels is required. HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) and higher-level relevant degree preferred.
- Familiarity with the petrochemical industry, including work schedules (DuPont, 3-2-2, 4 On / 4 Off, etc) is also preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e-mail systems (Outlook), SAP, Internet, etc.
- Solid knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (i.e. FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA).
- General understanding of Occupational Health, Leave Management administration and Workers Compensation.
The Location
This opportunity involves support for two plant locations. One site is located in Pasadena, Texas and the other is in Texas City, Texas. The sites are approximately 20 miles apart. Pasadena is part of the Houston metropolitan area, about 30 miles from downtown. Texas City is about 40 miles Southeast of Houston and 10 miles north of Galveston Island. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.
