Organizational context and job purpose

The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, and Polyethylene Pipe.  Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LaPorte, TX), Carson (Carson, CA), and several WL Plastic division plants, with a division office in League City, TX.  Overall O&P USA has ~ 1,900 employees, 1,100 contractors, and annual revenue of over $5 billion. The O&P USA business purchases significant quantities of Natural Gas Liquid feeds, naphtha, and energy commodities for the production of the above-mentioned product lines.

How the Role Fits In:

The role is highly integrated with the IT function and its management from all INEOS businesses around the world to meet operational requirements, identify and act on opportunities for commercial leverage, and convey market information into the IT & Procurement network.

The Main Purpose of the Role: 

The Commodity Manager - IT is responsible for strategically managing the spending and Innovation Technology for IT-related goods and services across the global INEOS.    Another key function of the role is to manage global contracts and resulting commercial relationships with industry-leading service providers.  Total global cost management activities involve an annual spend of approximately $50M.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Accountability 1: Develop IT sourcing strategy

  • Become very familiar with and understand the sourcing needs of the various IT users.
  • Develop close working relationships with the IT requirements and community
  • Understand the larger business context drivers and support required.

Accountability 2: Manage key global contracts for hardware, software, and services.

  • Negotiate high-value contracts to meet business needs
  • Establish and manage relationships with supplier account managers
  • Continue to keep contracts aligned with the needs of the businesses
  • Manage cost allocation, technical and engineering requirements for use

Accountability 3: Be the single commercial face of the IT products and services market

  • Develop new and maintain existing supplier relationships
  • Maintain awareness of INEOS’ demand and strategic direction so that it’s adequately communicated to the supply base

Accountability 4: Lead cross-functional project teams, when needed

  • Develop a Front-end loading IT Procurement participation model
  • Understand the commercial drivers behind the project
  • Assemble and engage the team members for prompt progress
  • Provide motivation, challenge, and pace for the team
  • Maintain management awareness

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

Level of education & Experience in general

  • Bachelor’s Degree, minimum; Master’s Degree preferred
  • At least 10 years of procurement/supply experience in a petrochemicals-related business
