Interested in joining a winning team? A team whose employees share in the ownership of the business and are empowered to make a difference?
Organizational context and job purpose
INEOS Nitriles is the world’s largest supplier of Acrylonitrile and Acetonitrile as well as the industry leader in Acrylonitrile process and catalyst technology. The business has three Acrylonitrile production assets (two in US and one in EU) with the capacity to produce over 1 million tons of product. As well as producing Acrylonitrile, the Nitriles business also runs an Ammonia business (700 ktpa capacity of NH3/HNO3) and a speciality Catalyst business.
The Nitriles Global Business Manager is a critical role for the business and significantly contributes to the development of the business strategy and achievement of the key objectives, including EBITDA growth, positive cash generation through the cycle, annual and 5-year business plans and the technology protection program. Given the diversity of the different parts of the business, the Global Business Manager is required to build, deliver and manage different strategies to maximise value of a complex diversity of businesses; from the commodity Acrylonitrile business through to the specialty nature of the Catalyst business as well as managing technology protection in a rapidly evolving market in China.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Lead the forecast and delivery of 3-month and annual financial plan for the Nitriles business and then deliver the profit and loss performance (€12.5M EBITDA per month), while providing timely reporting and updates to the Board on significant deviations from the forecast. This includes leading the global commercial team to ensure that the supply chain has been economically optimised and that profit and cashflow have been maximised for INEOS.
- Lead the development of the 5 Year Business Plan for the Acrylonitrile, Ammonia and Catalyst businesses to maximise returns “through the cycle” while protecting the business from bottom of cycle conditions. Align the strategy with the Nitriles CEO, Board and broader organisation. As context to the strategy, provide a clear view of the future market development for the Acrylonitrile industry based on thorough analysis of the global supply and demand growth factors.
- Deliver a growth plan for the business by building clear business development options for the Acrylonitrile, Catalyst and Ammonia businesses. Work with the commercial team to develop and progress business cases for expansion, M&A opportunities and investments in the existing asset base. Full scale of CAPEX projects from €10M (asset improvements) to €1B (new assets).
- Lead the Intellectual Property protection programme aimed at halting the proliferation of INEOS proprietary Acrylonitrile technology, worth up to €100M over the next 5 years, including project monitoring, legal case preparation, market communication and interfacing with the Technology Joint Venture in China.
- Anticipate and lead the response to business risks and issues to safeguard the long-term viability of the business. Manage the complexity and ambiguity of conflicting priorities and market requirements in a way that leads to long-term solutions that may not be obvious or even visible in the short-term.
