Role synopsis:

The Global Assets Engineer supports implementation and compliance for Maintenance Excellence and TAR Management Excellence in INEOS Aromatics.  This position holder facilitates, maintains, and delivers programs specifically aimed at upgrading asset effectiveness via improvements in reliability, availability, overall equipment utilization, maintenance work execution, and maintenance costs. The position holder is also expected to have detailed knowledge of TAR planning, contracting strategies, and execution that ensure best in class performance for the Aromatics business.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The incumbent will be required to work with various parties across multiple technology platforms located at 3 operating sites in the assigned region. Building an understanding of the uniqueness of each site’s technology, people, capability, culture, and practices is a key to success in this role. The complexity of the role is further increased by the fact that the success of the incumbent will be highly dependent on the ability to drive cultural change in manufacturing sites without possessing direct line management of employees at the assets. Finally, the incumbent will work across the sites to align practices to INEOS expectations and standards.

  • Responsible for providing maintenance execution and efficiency expertise to Aromatics sites in the assigned region.
  • Reducing the costs and impact of TAR’s and planned maintenance through improved planning, definition of tasks, and implementation of TAR common process (TCP), scope optimization, etc.
  • Maximizing plant reliability, through analysis of data, performance reporting and root cause analysis.
  • Develop and support sustainability of common maintenance and reliability standards.
  • Act as a change agent to improve reliability and develop a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Share and apply best practice by leading and participating in networks, teleconferences, meetings, and seminars.
  • Proactively communicate across the sites any learnings or best practices regarding availability/reliability and assist the sites to implement changes as appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of developments in reliability and availability by liaising with vendors and by participating in technical conferences / seminars.
  • Assist and coach the sites in performing Root Cause Failure Analysis to reactively identify the true root causes of equipment failures and put in place changes to prevent repeat failures in the future.
  • Provide assistance to plant requests for technical support in analyzing and resolving reliability issues.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • 10+ years’ experience in site maintenance/reliability/operations organizations in the chemical/refining industry.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of maintenance excellence processes including reliability centered maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of risk-based maintenance processes.
  • Good understanding of performance metrics related to Asset management.
  • Experience with site turnaround (TAR) or short shutdown management.
  • Strong understanding of TAR work processes from concept through execution.
  • Experience in leading Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Awareness of SAP and Meridium operations for executing maintenance process and KPI reporting.
  • Must be fluent in English. Other beneficial languages include Dutch and/or Mandarin.
