About the Job

The Fixed Equipment Inspector will develop the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to perform API (American Petroleum Institute) and AWS-CWI (American Welding Society-Certified Welding Inspector) inspections and evaluate inspection results per industry Codes and Standards. This includes providing daily support to Capital Project Manager, units/areas, coordinating the on-stream inspection program, and executing the unit inspection plan in accordance with departmental procedures. The incumbent contributes to the thermal imaging, painting, and other specialty reliability programs. This is a safety critical role.

About You

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 2-year or 4-year technical degree desirable
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability, high degree of dependability, and capable of exercising good judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Maintenance and welding experience desirable
  • Must pass selection assessments (may include quantitative ability, verbal ability, mechanical comprehension, and following instructions)

Specific Job Responsibilities

Incumbent will develop the knowledge, skills, and experience in the body of knowledge required for and will take and pass the following certification examinations (or otherwise complete the certification requirements):

  • API-510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector)
  • API-570 (Authorized Piping Inspector)
  • AWS-CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
  • Level II NDE (Non Destructive Evaluation) Technician to perform MT (Magnetic Particle Testing), PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing), and VT (Visual Testing)
  • NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) Corrosion Technician certification
  • Work hours are generally Mon. – Fri., 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Off-hours duty coverage is required on a rotating basis

Due to the extensive time and cost for the training and exams required to attain the aforementioned certifications, the incumbent will be expected to remain in Reliability Department for at least 2 years after he/she has become fully certified, unless otherwise agreed with the Reliability & Maintenance Manager
