The Position: Feedstock & Marine Manager -This position is responsible for the marine and terminal management for Liquid Logistics for the Texas City and Bayport sites (Production at Texas City 1.2 billon lbs., Bayport 1.7 billion lbs.) Terminal Management includes storage tank (14 tanks) and dock management at four terminals (LBC, BP, OTTC and Odfjell). From a feedstock perspective (ethylene by pipeline and benzene pipeline and ships/barges), this position is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted supply of quality feedstock enabling the continuous production of Styrene Monomer in the Gulf Coast region. This position negotiates and manages all marine activities: negotiation of deep sea vessel contracts (Altamira as well as spot vessels Asia/Europe), and inland barge contracts to the North American sites – Channahon, Decatur and Addyston Terminal Optimization is also a significant part of this role. Primary functions include financial analysis, budgeting, negotiating as well as managing the marine/feedstock group.
What you will do:
- Direct, develop, and manage performance of the Feedstock Coordinator and Marine Coordinator
- Participate on Liquid Logistics management team as well as Project Teams as required (ESPN, Project Gilley)
- Lead negotiations on deep sea vessels (Mexico, Asia, Canada, Europe) ($12M annually)
- Work closely with Direct Materials Procurement (acrylonitrile, butadiene, B/Z, AMS) to ensure supply to Altamira. In addition, continuing to look for optimization/cost savings (chartering vessels).
- Lead negotiation on barge contracts to ensure the company maintains a low cost position in styrene monomer supply to internal sites as well as customers. In addition this position negotiates barge contracts for the securement of benzene to Gulf Coast plants ($41M annually)
- Lead negotiation on terminal contracts as well as operational excellence (LBC, OTTC, Odfjell) ($11M annually)
- Negotiate and manage relationship/costs with other marine suppliers – inspection companies, marine consultants, ship brokers, product traders
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures and guidelines including the company Delegation of Authority (DOA).
- Ensure suppliers and contractors are informed about and comply with all SHE policies and procedures.
- Drive continuous cost savings and avoidance through a total cost of ownership approach
- Ensure Supplier Management program activities are met including adherence to Supplier Code of Conduct.
- Travel (20% to 25%) to production facilities and suppliers
What you will bring:
Level of education & knowledge:
- BS degree in supply chain management, operations management, business administration or related field with MBA preferred.
- Minimum 7 years related experience with 3-4 years in a managerial role
- Minimum 10 years, experience in Logistics functions
Experience in general:
Technical skills:
- Strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills to understand supply market dynamics, generate purchasing strategies, effectively negotiate agreements, and implement solutions to complex problems
- Strong negotiating skills
- Good understanding of site operations
- Basic skills in using tools like SAP, Excel. PowerPoint and other databases
- Inventory management, FIFO.
- RCA´s: Root Cause Analysis techniques
- Basic understanding of international trade compliance concerns
- Cross Cultural Management
- Language: English
