PTA is a raw material used in the manufacture of polyesters used to make fibres, textiles, film, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. PX is a feedstock for PTA production. European Head of Procurement

Purpose of the job

As head of the procurement function in European Aromatics, the role is accountable for the efficient and reliable procurement of all manufacturing, business and logistics 3rd party spend (excluding feedstock raw materials) delivered through creating a high performing, motivated procurement organisation recognised for continually driving cost reductions and EBITDA growth through its professionalism, excellence, and performance delivery.

Accountabilities of the job

  • Lead the regional procurement teams to provide a professional, integrated procurement service through the development of appropriate skills, commercial knowledge and understanding of the business’s procurement requirements.
  • Develop and implement leading procurement strategies to deliver significant cost improvements translating into the business EBITDA and efficiency of capital projects whilst delivering against our SHE standards.
  • Ensure fit for purpose processes, systems and tools are in place to drive efficient, high quality procurement processes and back office (through networking with finance) and ensure compliance with all laws and alignment with INEOS compliance standards.
  • Drive a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Guarantee business continuity through robust contracting strategies, tracking supplier performance and market dynamics
  • Create a high capability, well-motivated team through regular engagement, context setting, training and development so all team members feel connected to the business and understand how they can make a difference.
  • Through strong communication and networking skills ensure alignment of business needs between all key stakeholders involved in procurement activities.
  • Member of the European Aromatics senior leadership team
  • Member of the Global Aromatics Procurement Network driving global initiatives and ensuring best practices are rolled out Europe.

Required Profile

  • A higher degree, preferably in a technical field and senior procurement and commercial experience, preferably in the petrochemicals industry.
  • Previous experience in managing people and in a leadership role.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills, delivery/cost focus and Advanced analytical skills
  • Understanding of business context, market interactions and business strategy
  • Capacity to recognise and improve deficient processes
  • Experience to develop and implement new methods and procedures
  • Computer literacy (SAP, BW, MS Office)
  • Process oriented thinking
  • Solid ability to move from analytical to strategic (understand the bigger picture)
  • Strong and innovative team player with change management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines
