ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

The successful candidate will fulfil the role of Environmental Specialist and support INEOS O&P UK to operate in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner to meet, or where practicable, exceed relevant legislative, through the provision of coaching and advice to Asset Management and SHE Technical Authority. 

The post holder will act as the focal point for managing, overseeing and analysing key leading and lagging SHE performance information to improve SHE delivery and performance. This includes the preparation, analysis and submission of all environmental reporting.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Interface with Environmental regulatory bodies for all routine reporting requirements, supporting the Assets and SHE Advisors engage with Environmental regulatory bodies for all routine permit compliance requirements, escalating to the Lead Environmental Specialist where appropriate.
  • Monitor compliance to the relevant environmental permits, licences, consents and authorisations from SEPA and other regulatory authorities, and provide expert advice to enable the O&P business to drive compliance and maintain its License to Operate.
  • Provide competent advice and expertise on risk based regulatory principles such as BAT to enable informed decisions to be made relating to legislative requirements.
  • Support the provision of a robust SHEMS (Environmental Focused) that defines INEOS Group, UK legislative requirements, and acknowledges industry best practice for environmental management.
  • Undertakes site visits to verify compliance with SHE related processes, providing coaching to personnel on process requirements;
  • Attend SHE related meetings as required, working closely with Safety Representatives on key initiatives;
  • Maintaining current and accurate regulatory correspondence, including letters and associated supporting information;
  • Own and update systems on behalf of the SHE team to ensure legislative compliance;
  • Issue and develop SHE related updates / communications to communicate learnings.

ABOUT YOU

You should:

  • Have a Science / Engineering / Environmental (preferred) related degree.
  • Hold Membership of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment).
  • Have relevant post graduate experience (ideally minimum of 5 years).
  • Have good analytical techniques and possess an ability to develop clear and insightful reports.
  • Demonstrate relevant experience working with data software packages.
  • Have an understanding of contractor and project management.
  • Show a detailed understanding of management system requirements.
  • Be a strong collaborator with a passion for SHE and for driving continuous improvement.
