Job Purpose

The successful candidate will fulfill the role of Dangerous Goods subject matter expert (land, sea and air), as well as support a broad range of activities relating to environmental management and the management of hazardous substances.

The post holder will act as the focal point for managing, overseeing and analysing key leading and lagging SHE performance information to improve SHE delivery and performance. This includes the preparation, analysis and submission of all environmental reporting.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Develop and own Dangerous Good Related Management System Content, acting as the subject matter expert for transportation of dangerous goods (land, sea and air);
  • Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to ensure the register is kept up-to-date and complies with current regulations;
  • SHE representative for waste management related contracts within FPS, supporting the contract management team to drive continuous improvement;
  • Undertakes site visits to verify compliance with SHE related processes, providing coaching to personnel on process requirements;
  • Attend SHE related meetings as required, working closely with Safety Representatives on key initiatives;
  • Leads key improvement activities relating to Safety, Health & Environment e.g. THRIVE Wellbeing Ambassador, Grangemouth Energy Network (GEN) Group member;
  • Responsible for preparing all routine environmental data reports including but not limited to Pollution Prevention Control (PPC), Scottish Pollutant Release Inventory (SRPI), INEOS Group and Environmental Emissions Monitoring Submission (EEMS) Reports;
  • Maintaining current and accurate regulatory correspondence, including letters and associated supporting information;
  • Oversee environmental task management software and associated register, responsible for environmental oversight of OPEX emissions management tool;
  • With support from Environmental Specialist, provide environmental expertise to small projects; 
  • Own and update systems on behalf of the SHE team to ensure legislative compliance;
  • Manage and oversee the SHE Intranet site;
  • Issue and develop SHE related updates / communications to communicate learnings.

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

  • Science / engineering / environmental related degree (preferred);
  • Experienced in the management of Dangerous Goods (preferred);
  • Professional certification / qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, IEMA etc.) helpful but not essential;
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate experience;
  • Good analytical techniques and possess an ability to develop clear and insightful reports;
  • Relevant experience working with data software packages;
  • Understanding of contractor and project management;
  • Detailed understanding of management system requirements – this will involve the roll out of procedures and supporting documentation;
  • Strong collaborator with a passion for SHE and for driving continuous improvement.
