Electrical Technician 1

Main role purpose:

The post holder is responsible for providing the primarily electrical maintenance function and some basic instrument maintenance for the Salt Business at Runcorn Site. The post holder must have a high awareness of customer impact and ensure the manufacturing capability delivers against customer expectations.

Key responsibilities & accountabilities:

  • A champion of SHE, Quality and Engineering good practice and compliance with site and codal engineering standards.
  • Act as the first line local technical expert in maintenance best practices for electrical systems and provide more basic instrument technician support.
  • Maintain the Engineering Standards, applying a quality role in day to day and task / TAR settings.
  • Solve problems at the root cause level; actively seek, recommend and implement improvements.
  • Take a lead role in coordinating small teams of tradesmen (staff or contractors) during larger planned events.

Key skills & experience:

  • Have served a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ qualifications.
  • Operated within a production environment for a number of years as an Electrical or Instrument Electrical Technician.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of commitment to SHE and Engineering Standards.
  • Be willing and capable of further training to develop into the role in both the electrical and instrument arenas.
  • A highly motivated, self-managing individual with a high degree of independence.
  • Display a readiness and ability to lead when the situation requires without unnecessary resource to immediate supervisor.
  • Analytical thinker with good critical information seeking skills.
  • Concern for standards and results orientation.
  • Experience of working on PLC’s (Siemens S7) Logic Control System and DCS Systems (Yokogawa).
