The Forties Pipeline System (FPS) is 100% INEOS owned and predominantly serves the central area of the North Sea. FPS has a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day.

FPS transports crude oil and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) from over 60 offshore fields (including the St Fergus terminal) to the Kinneil terminal in Grangemouth. The crude and NGL products are stabilised at Kinneil where the majority of the stabilised crude oil is sent to the Dalmeny and Hound Point (DHP) terminal for tanker export. Associated gas is also processed at Kinneil into dry gas (exported to the Grangemouth refinery) and propane plus butane, which is sent for LPG export.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Export Engineering Manager, the post holder will provide frontline Electrical Engineering support for the Dalmeny & Hound Point (DHP) Asset. DHP includes the Dalmeny Tank Farm and the Hound Point tanker loading facility in the Firth of Forth. Primary job purpose is as follows:

  • Provide frontline Electrical Engineering support for the Dalmeny Hound Point Asset
  • Site ownership of the EX register, ensuring the system is current and all registered equipment is inspected every 3 years.

DIMENSIONS

DHP sites are diverse and have approximately 4200 instrumentation and electrical locations.

The jobholder is the custodian for the site EX register with nearly 3000 ATEX certified instrumentation and electrical equipment.

Principle Accountabilities

Electrical Engineering

  • Maintain the integrity of asset and protective systems relevant to discipline.
  • Specify, scope and execute improvements to Electrical systems as Job Responsible Engineer for Asset

Electrical MoCs (Management of Change) proposals

  • Asset electrical engineering focal point for site projects, including studies and site support.
  • Act as Electrical single point of accountability (SPA) for ongoing reliability, availability and integrity.
  • In line with above, lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, root cause analysis, equipment strategy, defect elimination, equipment rationalisation and continuous improvement
  • Define and own the asset electrical spares strategy.
  • Lead/contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments & investigations as electrical engineering focal point for the asset. 
  • Custodian of key electrical engineering documentation including Power System Study, RFI Ignition Study, Lightning Risk Assessment, High Energy Electrical Equipment Risk Assessment, Ex Inspection Strategy and Ex Register
  • Technical approval of electrical engineering content of Asset MoCs proposals
  • Custodian of asset maintenance strategies for electrical equipment.
  • Support the maintenance team in regards to the implementation of planned maintenance routines, equipment breakdown; including investigation of fault, defect resolution and execution of breakdown maintenance and repairs
  • Monitor and advise on the technical and safety implications of any maintenance backlog.
  • Provide ownership and a total asset care service (design, maintenance, modifications, upgrades) ensuring they are maintained to meet business HSE/reliability targets and comply with Ineos FPS standards.
  • Provide technical Electrical expertise to DHP Maintenance Team &  E/I Technicians.
  • Maintain and performance manage site EX register ensuring the system is up-to date and all equipment is inspected every 3 years.
  • Ensure EX defects are risk ranked, inputted into CMMS (Maximo) and eliminated promptly.
  • Self-verification reviews
  • Ensure all Maximo operating locations are correct and all Safety Critical Equipment have periodic inspection scheduled to ensure the integrity of the protective systems.
  • Participation in the FPS Incident Management Team (IMT) as required.

Qualifications, KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
  • Experience of Oil & Gas, Refining or Chemical Industries would be advantageous
  • Technical knowledge and experience of electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres and in relevant legislation such as ATEX and DSEAR.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of the design, operation, commissioning and maintenance of HV (up to 33kV) and LV industrial power systems and plant equipment.
  • Understanding and applied knowledge of relevant UK Regulatory and industry standards including those relating to electrical safety, control of work and major accident hazards.
  • Understanding and experience of managing risk
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead/influence others using a variety of styles
  • Ability to coach and develop others in the electrical engineering and associated disciplines.
  • Ability to effectively manage Asset workload in a dynamic environment
