Purpose of the job:
This role will be the Drilling Manager supporting the drilling and completions activity from vendor selection, bidding, capex estimation, AFE preparation, MSA negotiation and work authorization with contractors. This is a leadership role to execute new well development within the approved capex budget each year for a continuous drilling program.
How the Role Fits in:
The Oil and Gas asset team members are a group of multi-discipline professionals who are responsible for operating and developing the INEOS USA Oil & Gas properties. The team also performs evaluations for the potential acquisition of new Oil & Gas assets. The Drilling Manager will lead the drilling program while reporting to the Operations Manager.
Accountabilities of the job:
- Establish safety parameters for drilling and completions
- Drive continuous improvement in safety performance in drilling and completion operations
- Negotiate contract terms with critical vendors including long term rig and completions services contracts
- Estimate drilling and completions capex for each new location and prepare AFE with input from cross functional team
- Execute development of each well within approved AFE
- Develop strong relationships with external contractors to maintain options for continuous development
- Identify options to reduce drilling and completions cost
- Engineer wellbore design and standards for new wells
- Establish INEOS drilling practices through wellbore design, specifications and drilling procedures
- Document continuous learning and apply to ongoing development program
- Lead DWOPs and CWOPs with integrated team of INEOS and contract personnel
Required Education, Experience and Skills
Level of education & Experience in general
- Petroleum Engineering or equivalent degree
- 15+ years of combined field and office experience working in drilling and completions with Oil and Gas operators
- Pressure Control and H2S safety certifications
- Experience with multiple drilling vendors in multiple onshore US basins
- Rig Hand, Driller or Company Representative experience preferred
Technical skills:
- Record of safe drilling operations
- Ability to communicate, document and enforce safe practices
- Proven ability to manage drilling campaigns, including vendor selection, rig selection, staffing, logistics and performance reporting
- Ability to prioritize and progress multiple projects in parallel, including periodic reporting and current initiatives
- Ability to work with legal to progress contract negotiations
- Ability to work with external contractors to establish insurance requirements
- Strong computing skills with experience compiling and analysing drilling data, developing drilling and completion plans and preparing professional presentations
