Credit Specialist

We’ve been expanding the Finance team in INEOS Aromatics Europe with the aim to in-source activities previously performed by a shared services center and to provide a full suite of financial services to the business.

The Credit Specialist, reporting to the Aromatics Europe Finance Controller, ensures that INEOS credit policies are adhered to and that the business is protected against bad debts through the application of rigorous credit control procedures and through timely intervention in the case of poor and or late payers.

Whilst the majority of activity takes place in Europe, the team networks with colleagues in Asia and the US to align on credit process and share best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in finance in a global organisation.

The role can be based in Belgium (Geel) or UK (London), with occasional travel to Geel.

In this role You will:

  • Ensure credit assessments are performed in a timely manner and in compliance with INEOS credit policies
  • Utilize trade references and external agencies to propose appropriate credit limits
  • Keep up to date with latest developments and changes to ensure customer ratings are accurate and risks are documented and escalated
  • Ensure accurate status of accounts receivable and track customers on watch lists
  • Chase overdue payments to ensure prompt collection of cash
  • Monitor credit limits, propose changes and maintain credit limits data in SAP
  • Review blocked orders, seek approvals for their release and process release in SAP
  • Validate LCs, review issuing banks, evaluate risks and recommend an LC confirmation
  • Review parent company’s guarantee and make recommendations if acceptable
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding credit issues
  • Manage bad debts to minimizes losses
  • Ensure management is aware of the financial exposure of the business
  • Generate monthly accounts receivable reports and support ad hoc request
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Use working knowledge to identify issues in the process and propose improvements

We have the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • 5-10 years of credit or treasury experience
  • Ability to analyze financial statements, extract insights and evaluate liquidity risks. Sufficient general accounting knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP or comparable ERP system
  • Knowledge of UPC 600 (Uniform Customs & Practice for Documentary Credits) would be an advantage
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build working relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Fluency in English. Dutch would be an advantage
