Your role: The Cost Down Programme Controller has full functional responsibility for orchestrating and delivering a clear process that ensures component costs are controlled and cost savings objectives are met. They are also accountable for data integrity and reporting to the key stakeholders in the business.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Technically leads and owns the compilation, vetting and reporting of the financial impacts resulting from cost savings initiatives
- Measures, tracks, validates, and compiles cost savings initiatives, and reports them to Finance and Procurement leads at agreed intervals / milestones (e.g., planning rounds, project gateways, business cases), calling out hard vs. soft savings, and required investment
- Technically leads cost improvement savings, tracks project progress to plan, works with project leads to assure on time project / initiative delivery and reporting; leads review meetings
- Feedback cost efficiencies into the planning round (forecasting) process
- Reports cost down status to procurement and finance teams in a consistent and well-defined scope and format; performs post-mortem studies on the actual performance of implemented cost down initiatives
- Technically leads industrial projects aiming to reduce suppliers’ materials, process, and overhead costs
- Acting as an independent 3rd party collaborator and advisor, supports regular material cost reviews with Procurement, Finance, Commercial, Engineering and Manufacturing teams; provides management reports; coordinates ad-hoc analysis and deep dives
- Facilitates continuous cost improvement intervention & employee involvement throughout the supply base
- Motivates cost engineers and buyers to achieve technical, commercial, and economic cost reduction targets, using agreed tools, data, and methodologies
- Identifies opportunities to implement common processes & best practices from internal and external sources; researches and uses relevant material, economic and process benchmark data
- Provides leadership, coaching and training in lean thinking and lean production, cost gap closure; leads and drives a culture of cost awareness
- Leads commodity studies (deep dive product & process benchmarks with current & prospective suppliers)
- Support the Procurement Financials Manager in cost reporting and planning activities, acting as a delegate as necessary
- Facilitates cost reduction idea workshops; maintains an ideas register / tracker
- Engages with Procurement Category Management teams on forecasting, fact-based negotiation input (commercial perspective) and analysing cost trends
- Supports material cost estimation and analysis dashboards linked to market forecasts, in categories/materials opportunities & risk (critical metrics), cost movement drivers and spending
- Supports the control of cost creep during vehicle development phases by facilitating internal cost down meetings and sharing optimal (target / benchmark) cost structures
What we are looking for:
- Degree qualified in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or similar discipline
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience gained at either a Tier 1/2 automotive supplier or automotive OEM
- Significant automotive cost engineering / supply chain / procurement know-how gained over a long career in automobile manufacturing is preferred
- Strong and proven leadership, negotiation, and collaboration skills, with demonstrable experience working with senior Procurement, Finance, Commercial, Engineering and Manufacturing stakeholders
- Previous direct knowledge of automotive procurement from concept-through-industrialisation-to-operation is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of Financial / Accounting best practices including budgeting, planning, and interacting with the INEOS Finance team
- Able to demonstrate experiences in building and maintaining cross functional relationships
- Good capability with Microsoft Office software and experience with SAP is desirable, training will be available
- Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, dynamic Start Up environment, with a high level of agility
- International travel as required by the dynamics of the role
- English language is mandatory; German beneficial but not essential
- Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivery
