The Position:  The Control Systems Supervisor / Planner’s primary responsibility is to supervise, plan, and schedule the Control Systems (I&E) Maintenance Technicians including all equipment and work related activities, work plans, task lists, metric goals management, schedule compliance, and MTBR.

Requirements:

Level of Education & Knowledge:  

  • Minimum 2-year technical school diploma with 12+ years of related experience, or 14+ years combination of post secondary education and related experience

  • Legislated regulations and governing laws affecting areas of responsibility

  • Related SAP modules

  • Functional in computer software/systems (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, etc.)

Experience in General:

  • Strong understanding of World Class Reliability processes such as; planning & scheduling, preventive & predictive tools, Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM), etc.

  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate.

  • Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance tools

  • Experience in instrument and electrical maintenance in a chemical plant environment

Competencies & Behavioral Skills:

  • Demonstrated effective interaction with all personnel levels of plant operation

  • Self motivated with an ability to work independently or with teams

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to use good judgment and absolute discretion with confidential issues

Responsibilities:

LEADERSHIP

  • This position is a Supervisor with Control Systems (I&E) Technicians as direct reports
  • Develop team utilizing coaching, counseling, performance management, and succession planning
  • Provide expert knowledge or field expertise to Technicians in the field 
  • Surface and facilitate resolution of critical issues affecting team
  • Support Process Based Leadership, Management of Change, and other business processes
  • Provide knowledge leadership to plant activities, problem solving, and strategic asset-related planning in related area of expertise
  • Shutdown / Turnaround coordination, planning, and supervising
  • Advocate continuous improvement ideas
  • Maintenance work metric goals management and compliance (ie, schedule compliance, MTBR, etc.)
  • Provide Mechanical Supervisor/Planner relief coverage
  • Provide additions, deletions, or modifications to the “Maintenance Work Guidelines” manual
  • Department budget manager
  • Develop and implement internal and external Control Systems Maintenance training
  • Site compliance for specialized technician regulatory training (OSHA, NFPA, ADEM, etc.)
     

PRODUCT, ASSETS, AND PROCESS   ​​​​

  • Develop, implement, and modify Maintenance Work Plans, Items, and Task Lists
  • Interface with other departments for equipment or work related maintenance activities/impacts
  • Current knowledge of associated SAP modules and Microsoft Office
  • Ensure equipment specifications are in accordance with site LPS standards, site engineering standards, NFPA standards, etc.
  • Ensure Technical Library equipment files data and vendor files development and maintenance
  • Asset Maintenance Management and TPM programs including additions, deletions, or modifications
  • Contribute to achieve and maintain World Class Reliability goals and objectives through use of sound predictive and preventative maintenance practices
  • Continuous improvement; best practice, sharing learning’s to promote total plant reliability
  • Predictive and Preventative Maintenance program reviews and modifications
  • Develop, implement, and utilize department scorecard
  • Weekly communications, safety reviews, MOC reviews and site performance reviews

    CUSTOMER
  • Maintenance Contracts and Contractors Coordinator
  • Develop and maintain procedure for Maintenance ISO System Level and Work Level Procedures
  • Ensure appropriate department support and interface with all departments and with internal and external customers
  • Support efficient departmental routine and non-routine duties to meet manufacturing, project, and customer objectives with consistent and timely results.
  • Maintain compliance of legislated regulations and governing laws affecting areas of responsibility
  • Maintain broad understanding of the main factors that influence or could potentially impact their area of the business and of how their department operates as an integrated unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned which may not be specifically listed in the position description, but which are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s skills classification of work.
