PTA is a raw material used in the manufacture of polyesters used to make fibers, textiles, film, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. PX is a feedstock for PTA production. We also produce meta xylene, a feedstock for PX production.

Job Title: 

Contract Maintenance Job Representative 

Compensation Grade: H33

Role synopsis: 

The position ensures that all contractor employees work safely and productively. The position is required to support routine maintenance, turnaround maintenance activities, and projects. The position has site wide programmatic scope and influences contractors, and employees. There are no direct reports, and minimal discretionary spend authority associated with the position.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Communicates all SHE (safety, health and environmental) and Maintenance Procedures to contractors for their specified work.
  • Ensures that a copy of the SHE Rules for Contractors are given to contractors.
  • Ensures that the contractor complies with all elements of the contract/job scope.
  • Ensures that contractors have current safety orientation credentials.
  • Ensures that only approved contractors perform work at the site
  • Conducts and documents all pre-job meetings with contractors. Completes the Contractor Gate Assignment form for every contractor.
  • Provides contractors with applicable SDSs and obtains SDSs from contractors.
  • Completes forms for any new materials brought on site.
  • Ensures that all incidents are reported immediately per site policy.
  • Issues and authorizes gate passes for contractors’ removal of material.
  • Completes the Contractor Performance Evaluation.
  • Issues Contractor Feedback forms to contractors.
  • Verifies and approves time sheets.
  • Reports contractor labor hours to SHE monthly.
  • Ensures job scope requirements are understood and followed, provides frequent contact with contractors and reports any deficiencies.
  • Periodically attends contractor tailgate meetings.
  • Defines Isolation and Safety requirements, participates in risk analyses, initiates and maintains PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO (Lockout Tag-out), Confined Space and Hot Work permits and all control of work requirements.
  • Assists Planning group to develop detailed job plans and estimates through the use of field visits and interactions with Company and Contractor supervisors.
  • Ensures that all contractor PPMs are complete and performed in a timely manner.  Addresses deficiencies identified by the PPMs with the Team Lead.
  • Helps manage buildings and grounds activities.
  • Helps manage rental equipment usage, requirements, return and cost.
  • Ensures that we have the correct amount of labor, material, and equipment to complete each job.
  • Completes Control of Work (PTW, LOTO, confined space, hot work risk assessments) audits.
  • Backfills for the Contract Maintenance Team Lead position in his absence, if required.
  • Compliance with and promotion of different behavioral and process safety initiatives and measures – supporting 20 INEOS SHE Principles, IGGN’s, SHE KPI’s, risk assessments, etc.  These initiatives are reviewed on yearly appraisals. 

Skills & Knowledge Required: 

Education/Experience: 

  •  10 years maintenance experience, previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with turnaround execution practices and capital project process.
  • Capable of reading and understanding plant design drawings, plant specifications, vendor drawings, equipment drawings and field sketches.
  • Proficient in use of computer software deemed necessary to perform his/her job.
  • Good understanding of Maintenance Work Processes.
  • Ability to understand contracts and monitor for adherence.
  • Ability to analyze schedules and provide feedback to management and supervision.
  • General knowledge of procurement, warehousing and contracting work processes.
  • Training as maintenance craftsperson or planner preferred.
  • HS diploma
  • Fluency in English
